About a month ago there were some quick storms that blew across the straights, Caught 2 guys on the bridge for 45 minutes. Both were on HDs, no gear, they had to stop by one of the uprights for wind protection. Finally the rain and wind died down enough for them to continue.
Guess traffic stopped both ways for that blow.
I was the last across once, just as they closed it from the snow and wind. Suburban, locked in 4 wheel high Doing 5 mph. When I hit Mac city the bridge closed for the next 18 hours.
Woo hoo fun......
Be glad when you have a calm day.

That bridge really isn't all that high IMO. I think the George Washington in NYC and a couple bridges over the Delaware/Upper Chesapeake are higher than that.

Here are a few pics I've taken over the years on and around the bridge. Yuck, snow and ice. Some friends brought their 109's up here so I could show them around some of the great back roads. This was a long time ago, I was riding my Honda Shadow 750.

I like to ride up to the Cut River Bridge in the Fall. The colors from this gem of a bridge is amazing. Last year we did walk to the bottom and the kids had a blast catching guppies in the tiny little ponds that are between the river and Lake Michigan. It's an awesome place to swim as well. Great pics of the bridge by the way. Did you stand on the bridge as a semi rolled over it? You can feel the bridge bounce as one rolls over. Makes the stomach feel kinda funny.

i cross this every day: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoan_BridgeToday I took surface streets as the wind was gusting to 47mph. It's usually 15-20 mph up there, but above 30 and i'd rather not.
