Wow!! if anyone has been thinking about a super ten as a sport-touring mount definatley go take one for a test ride. they are a great bike, feels like a lightwieght FJR Razz... seriously they work fantastically well.
A friend showed up last night with one. I was out in the pasture fencing so my first ride on it was in the grass and the traction control (which I'm no fan of) worked very well. On the road it has very usable power, is comfy and even with the windshield in the lowest position has great wind prtoection. The technological whix-bangery actually seems to be very useful. the sport and touring modes are noticably different and as I mentioned the TC works incredibly well on both grass and gravel.
I think it is far superior to my KTM990A on the road, even though it doesn't feel any faster. Unfortunatley the gearing is extrememly tall, making even a road ditch U-turn an exercise in clutch control. I think it would be great on gravel roads and smooth 2-track, but anything that you can't maintain 15-20mph on is definately out. But, if you are looking for a sport-touring mount that you can do some exploring on this may be it.... I woke up this morning thinking I would rather be on the super ten than the KTM for my ride to Red Lodge tomorrow Rolleyes, but I'm sure I will change my mind once I get there and leave the pavement Wink Smile

I test rode one and was about to pull the trigger before the deal on my C-14 fell in my lap. I couldn't resist the C-14, but my next ride is definitely going to be the Super Ten.

I need to test ride one as my next bike will be a big adventure-touring bike as a true "all roads"  bike (including rough dirt/gravel). I have the 530 for anything that Subaru would be challenged to drive through.

Parallel twins are cool.  Thanks for the feedback on this bike, they've grown on me.  It appears to be more of a competitor to the GS than the 990/950A.

exactly. I haven't spent much time on it but most likely will in the near future, so far I am impressed.. The electronics impressed me the most, ABS and TC work very well and nothing like the jerky crap on most cars..

I've been eyeballing a couple of the used Triumph Tigers in the area, but may need to consider Super Ten as a replacement for the FJR. Thanks for posting up your review.

I'm almost 100% sure I'm going Strom 1000 but I must admit that the Tenere has a definite draw to it.

I rode one and liked....
1) In Sport mode it hauls ass
2) Holds its line well
3) Great wind protection for such a little screen
4) Seating position gives the rider great visibility

Did not like....
1) Buzzy between 4-5K
2) Engine seemed like a baby Harley, much more rattle and role than I am used to from the FJR
3) In Touring mode it is was gutless off the line/snatchy on the throttle
4) Holy hell Batman it is TALL!

When I returned to the dealership and got on the FJR it felt svelte for the first time that I had ever owned it. I still want to ride a 1200GS, but if I get a dual sport I think I will need a smaller version as standing on tippy-toes everywhere simple such all the enjoyment out of the bike for me.
