zombies counter protest westboro baptist protestors

http://www.kirotv.com/news/news/zombies-counter-protest-westboro-members-outside-j/nP5k3/

Counter-demonstrators dressed up as zombies Friday to protest against members of a small Kansas church outside Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
The members of the Westboro Baptist Church are known for sparking anger and counter-demonstrations. Eight of their members spread their anti-gay message on the streets of DuPont.
The demonstrators used repeated slurs and claimed soldiers died because God is angry with America over gay marriage and tolerance of "gay lifestyles."
Officers with the DuPont Police Department and Washington State Patrol troopers were present at the event.
Across the street from the Westboro protestors were counter-demonstrators who supported soldiers, and many of them dressed up as zombies after a Facebook campaign.
“I think that their message is very hateful, and Jesus was not a hateful person. He loved everybody,” said counter-demonstrator Ashley Winslow.
KIRO 7 Eyewitness News spoke with another counter-demonstrator, Ashlee Nerad, who said her group came because of family ties to the military.
“I come from a long line of military, including my husband, so when they protests my troops, I’m going to protect my First Amendment rights and protest them,” said Nerad.

Motorcyclist Charged With Manslaughter In Crash That Killed A Teacher
Quote

Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies say the motorcyclist who hit a bicyclist on Route 250 in Penfield Sunday has been charged with manslaughter.

Mark Scerbo II, 22, was arraigned from his hospital room Monday afternoon.

Police say Scerbo was riding his motorcycle behind his girlfriend's SUV on Sunday popping wheelies.

Police say when he tried to pass his girlfriend on the road’s shoulder, he hit Fairport School teacher Heather Boyum with his motorcycle.

Boyum was thrown from her bike, onto the road.

Police say Scerbo's girlfriend, 23-year-old Megan Merkel ran over Boyum with her car.

Boyum was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities say Scerbo was riding his motorcycle recklessly, speeding and slowing down and doing wheelies at the time of the crash.

Merkel was arrested for DWI.

Scerbo is at Strong Memorial Hospital recovering from injuries.

Court records show that Scerbo was convicted of DWI three times since 2006.

Records show neither Scerbo nor Merkel had a driver's license at the time of Sunday’s crash.

Both of these two are real class acts.

The motorcyclist now charged with manslaughter following Sunday’s crash that killed a Fairport school teacher was just released from state prison on July 5th.

At the time of his release Mark Scerbo II, 22, served just less than nine months of a one-to-three year prison sentence.   The sentence was the result of guilty pleas that satisfied two Driving While Intoxicated arrests in 2011.

Megan Merkel, Scerbo’s girlfriend, is charged with DWI after Sunday’s crash and she too has prior run-ins with the law. Court records show that Merkel was sentenced to probation following her 2009 arrest for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree and Forgery 2nd Degree. The felony complaint includes statements from Merkel that describe nearly $2,000 in charges on a credit card taken from a customer of a local Applebee’s restaurant.

A spokesman for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles tells 13WHAM News that Megan Merkel and Mark Scerbo II never had a valid driver licenses in this state. Scerbo surrendered a learner’s permit he had in 2007.

Aside from being a popular high school teacher, she had two small children.
