Does anybody have the skinny on the condition of 129 from Thessalon to Chapleau?

I am hearing different reports and would prefer a trusted STN opinion.

Ya, he is, I mean, are is.

Sitting in the Mississauga Holiday Inn building a fort. King size mattresses are f'n heavy!

129.  Entirely passable. But not good. What could be one of the best roads in Northern Ontario needed to be repaved about 5 years ago. Instead, of they've been patching it. About halfway up to Chapleau the road improves considerably. But the funner bits are over at that point.

Tip. If you go up that way. Stop at Aubrey Falls and take the hike in (about 1 km in and out). The falls are really good, especially if the damn is open.

Just finished Level 1. Had I had known, I would've enrolled in Level 2 for tomorrow. They were talking about creating a level 2 class for sometime in Aug. Hope so, love to do it. Great course, but I really need to practice a few things.

Even after riding for 30+ years, you can always pick up new things and break old habits.

Maybe I'll take a swing by tomorrow (I'm just up the rode on Britannia) and give everybody the thumbs up before I head back north.

did the hwy 2 weekends ago. They have been repaving using hardpack, and it was in good shape (for hardpack).  It's in the 20Km section with the most curves, but the whole road is a good ride.  Rest of the pavement is in pretty good shape, especially for a secondary hwy.   Have fun.
