Hola everyone,

Jim floated the idea of a small weekend meet on Saltspring Island. It does seem to have generated some interest, so now we get to some planning.

As Jim pointed out, the Provincial Park has some group camps. These can be rented fairly inexpensiovely as long as we have the right number (we can always phib a bit). The rmainder of the park has a total of 8 spots. There is one decent looking private campground in the middle of the island just south of Gangesw.

What we need to do now is firm up numbers, and set a date. Please toss your names and preferred dates and I will keep track of what is happening. Once we have enough interest, and a good idea of the best date, we will set it all up. It would seem late August or some time in September would work (I would recommend after Labour Day, as crowds on ferris and campgrounds decrease dramatically then).

Cheers,

Kai

The second weekend in September (8-9) works best for me.

I could do the second weekend in Sept as well, it would be a small diversion on my way to Northern California.

I will make a solid effort to get out for a night.  Late August works best for me re work.

Second weekend in September works well for me as well. That is the weekend after labour day.  That said, we will go with the majority. So, apeak up one and all, and let's get this thing happening.

Jim,

Thanks. I was just thinking the same thing myself now. Thank you for doing so.

Are we thinking camp friday night and group ride saturday, or camp saturday night and group ride sunday?

Maybe camp friday and saturday nights, group ride and dinner saturday, then head home sunday morning?

I'm really trying to figure out how to make this work, and what routes to plan to get up there...

Camping on Friday or Sat would work for me, but need to be gone early Sunday as I am headed south and don't want to leave the border crossing too late.

Ferries from Tsawassen on Friday end at 8:25 pm and on Sat at 9:30 Pm ... but the schedule changes after labour day.

Cockpiss.  Just found out that the entire month of September is going to be a "vacation blackout" here at work, as well as being a six-day-per-week schedule.  Sorry guys, not going to make this one.  Shitfuck.

Miles ... since it is likely our routes just might cross, let me know what you end up doing around this time. If this ride goes that way ....

I am doing what I can to get my ducks in a row for this ride.  Hopefully I'll know by the end of this week whether or not I can make it.

I am thinking of just being there and we shall see who shows ... Rob707 is on his way here tonight and we will discuss plans for riding in his neck of the woods in Sept, but I believe he is unavail till the following weekend ... which works out great for including a Lamburgini and revisiting one of my favourite places.

Jim,

When you say the following weekend, do you mean the 15th? I would likely be able to show up around then myself. Either the 8th or the 15th would work for me.

It suddenly looks as if the 15th would be better for me, too.

I'm subscribing to this thread as a hopeful maybe.

I can see how my post was confusing, sorry. I could do either weekend. Much better likelihood of getting a tent spot at Ruckle on the 15th though and really, a big part of this is camping there. Riding around the Island is a relatively short experience, though very pleasurable.  If it is the 15th I will be riding up from Northern Cal and don't mind a day on I5 if I have to make time to get there. By then I will have Highway 36 and 3 nearly memorized.  Lol

Shall we say the 15th? We can always just squat on the group camp if necessary and pay if all the other sites are full. And a short, relaxing ride around the isle would be nice.
