Everyone that has PMed me so far is in!

For everyone else, I have a couple more that are not spoken for.  If you are interested PM me your name, address & a valid email and I will send you a coupon.

A couple have asked me what is the deal on this.  I work for h-d and they are trying to get more non-hd riders to try their bikes.  They know I'm not the typical H-D rider and that I may have like minded friends that would like to try a bike out.

No strings attached, just rent the bike for a day and see how you like it.

All I ask is that you don't try to ride it like a sport bike or sport tourer.  They are great at just cruising along, short shift them and don't go for max lean angle and they may surprise you.

That is all....

Later.

Interested to see how this thread turns out.

I enjoyed the 1200 roadster I took for a test ride quite a bit.  Definitely a fun bike to ride.

I find a lot of bikes to better on pavement than on paper.  Giving out one-day rentals is a very good trick to win over a skeptical market share IMO.

As much as it pains me to say this, Honda could learn a lesson from Harley.

Can you imagine any of the Japanese mfgs sending out rental coupons to introduce riders to their products and maybe get business?
No?  Neither can I.

No wonder Harley owns the large bike market.

Agreed 100%; there are literally dozens of Japanese bikes that I would LOVE to try out.
Another thing, if I were in the market for a new bike there is NO WAY I'd buy without a thorough test ride, like say, an all day free rental.
HD's marketing is the absolute best in the business because they COMPLETELY understand how to create interest and win people over.

THE reason I have a Kaw C-14 is b/c I went to a Cycle World International Motorcycle show where they were doing demo rides.  Kaw had their entire lineup to ride & after a 30 min ride on a C-14, I went out shopping.

The local BMW/Ducati dealership is the only MC dealership that offers test rides & will let you have the bike for a few hours.

I can't thank Prubert enough for a free HD for a day.  What do y'all think of those who get a HD for a day, post up some pics of what/where you went with yours for the day?   Cool

Demo days are completely different from a day rental.
How much time do you have on a demo?  30 minutes?  And are you led by a ride leader on a set route?

The day rental gives you a day. All by yourself to go where you want.

I agree. I think it would be AWESOME for everyone to post up a ride report/ bike review afterwards. it would be cool to see what everyone chose and their thoughts on it as well as where they went. I'm thinkin' a day trip to bourbon country for me.  Cool

Is there a mileage limit during the 24 hr period?   Headscratch

Is it frowned upon to iron butt on a rented Road Glide?   Cool

I put 750 miles in 1day on a rented Road Glide.

Iron butt away!

I look forward to providing an honest ride report with pics. I don't care what model they give me. Although I do fancy the Street Glide (my brother has a 2012 that I have had the opportunity to ride when he is deployed). I like the Super Glide and Softail Deluxe as well.

Either way, I'll ride an 883 for all I care. I just enjoy riding a brand new bike.

Thank you sir for the opportunity! Mighty kind of you to provide us with this opportunity!

I'm thinking in-state SS1000 to Copper Harbor and back.  Hoping the local dealer is participating in the program.  They are one of the largest dealers in Michigan.  ABC HD.  I even bought a bike from them way back when they were actually on Gratiot in Detroit, a 1967 Triumph Bonneville 650 for $600.  Cash, of course.

I have an issue. I click on the link you provided and then go to find a rental location. It brings up a box where it says find a dealer. I type in Milwaukee, WI or 53227, or anything, and it returns nothing. It doesn't even tell me it returned nothing. When it comes back it just appears as if I've done nothing.

Also, the HD website has a slight oil leak and some of it has collected on my desktop.   I just added a new picture to the desktop and now it's ruined.  Twofinger

Just tried it and it worked for me; there may have been a system issue on H-Ds end. I'm using chrome and the window came up with results.  (BTW, Hal's is your closest dealer)  Razz

Everyone should check with the dealers that you plan to rent from, some dealers may only give 500 free miles then they start to charge per mile.

The $200 only goes towards the rental, not the mileage charge.

Sorry!

The dealer I spoke with (Marriettia GA) said there would be a $2000 "hold" on my credit card until I returned the bike.  It shouldn't be a problem, just sharing the info.   Bigok

Got my magic coupon today (actually yesterday, but just opened it tonight). Thanks Prubert !  Bigok

Looks like I'm going to Ventura or Lancaster for a pickup to get a real choice before it expires, LA area dealers Bartels etc. are booked till infinity. Those in the know understand there's plenty of eggsalent roads to explore from a Ventura or Lancaster Start on a 24 hour rental. I think I'm leaning towards the 1200 sporty but intrigued by the switchback...

Go with the switchback.  The only thing I don't like on that bike is the tall windshield, but you can take that off.

I'm not at all interested in one of the "Geezer" bikes as I have no desire to ride a bike that weighs more than my car.  Lol However, I think there's a Dyna Switchback just waiting for me to give it a proper road test. That bike jumped out at me from the lineup the first time I saw it.  Inlove

Just Finalized my rental! I got a Switchback. Someone cancelled and it came back up for availability.  Banana

Also found out another tasty tid-bit, the voucher is good for $200 and time-frame doesn't matter, which means; if you want the bike for more than one day go for it. 2 day rental on the Dyna was $198 so I got a free bike for 2 days! And it's the bike I originally wanted!  Banana  Banana Banana I'm stoked!

I'm going to be a pirate.

Saw Prubert at breakfast sunday and he got hold of a few more rental vouchers so i picked up a few.

Now to search the dealers in my area.

Am i going to have to buy a skirt to?
