Aside from an area on the Ben. Franklin Parkway near Penn Station, I don't see much in the way of bike parking.  I need to go to Thomas Jefferson Hospital on (rare) occasion - near 9th and Walnut.  The garage across from the main hospital specifically says "no motorcycles" (WTF??).  What's the story with parking bikes in Center City and not getting ticketed?

There is motorcycle-only metered parking on the corners of 15th &Chestnut and 16th & Chestnut. I'm not sure if other blocks of Chestnut street have the motorcycle parking slots. Most parking slots require feeding the kiosk and displaying the receipt on your dash, but the motorcycle slots are the old-fashioned meters. Just make sure you set it to the right parking space (1 or 2) before you put your quarters in. Other than that, you may find some parking along Sansom Street. Remember, you can park in a regular street spot, but you have to feed the kiosk and display the receipt (and hope someone doesn't walk off with it and put it in their car).

There is a small alley way just east of 11th Street off Walnut that always has a few motorcycles parked in it.  I believe they are hospital employees who park there.  I use to park there also but it has been a few years since I used it.

You may want to give it a look and see if it is still being used.

I park in spots where ever I can. I also ignore the no motorcycles thing. It won't hold up if ticketed, etc.  (in municipal. private lots is, I suppose, another story)

I usually park in the garage next to the hospital without any issue even with the no m/c signs. No one has ever given me any problems.

FWIW: Most parking garages w/ any kind of automated access control gate will have a No Motorcycles sign somewhere. It's a liability dodge. If the gate comes down on your head, they'll point to the sign and say you shouldn't have been in there in the first place. Otherwise, they don't care so much.

I've seen motorcycles in the PPA underground garage by the Visitors' Center in Old City, even though they have a No Motorcycles sign. I agree it's probably just a liability waiver, not a hard and fast rule.
