Link below to pics of our trip....not really feeling like doing a big ride report, since my details are probably plenty boring.
We were gone a couple weeks and covered about 5200 miles. The Guzzi never missed a beat and now has 8,000 miles on it.
The Heidenau K60 Scouts were amazing....been on the bike from mile one, front looks like new, rear has 1/4" tread left
It was a great trip covering lots of familiar ground and seeing things we hadn't seen in years.
Some places Jeanne hadn't been and I knew she'd enjoy. Places we stayed in
bold.
We rode up thru
Thermopolis and Cody, Chief Joseph Hwy and Beartooth Pass.... from Red Lodge to Columbus via 78 and Absarokee.
Blasted across to
Helena, up to West Glacier and Going to the Sun Rd. From Babb to Waterton Lakes and
Pincher Creek Up 22 to Longview, thru Kananaskis Country to
Banff for a couple nights to base for rides up Icefields Parkway and back and all the scenery in between.
Back south via Radium Hot Springs, Cranbrook, into Idaho panhandle with a stop in
St. Maries off the beaten path a bit.
The Idaho panhandle is one of my favorite places to ride.
Down to Lewiston, ID and to Enterprise, OR via 129 (great twisty and remote road I hadn't ridden in 20 yrs) to the Wallowa Mtns. To
Portland by the gorge to visit my sister - her son was back in town, good to see him too.
Salem - over the Cascades to Bend, south to Crater Lake, on to
Medford. Grants Pass - 199 - Crescent City, down thru the redwoods to
Redway.
Hwy 1 with stops in Ft. Bragg, Mendocino, Jenner, Bodega Bay...where the bay area crowds were reaching, and took us inland to wine country to get to the gold country. We'd both done the Big Sur stretch numerous times (I had just a few months ago on the ST1300), and grew tired of the huge crowds.
Napa, the awesome hwy 121 to Lake Berryessa to 128, to
Davis. Early morning thru Sac to Jackson (hwy 49) and on down to Yosemite.
South to
Kingsburg before heading to Delano and east on 155 (just south of the Mighty 190, but twistier and longer lasting to Lake Isabella). Hwy 178 from Wofford Hts to Ridgecrest, then Death Valley.
Death Valley was 123F when we rode thru, it was brutal - and I've been there a ton from my days in Vegas. This was hot even for DV. Stopped in
Pahrump due to the heat, fell short of our Mesquite goal that day

Vegas-Mesquite-St. George-Zion-Bryce-
Escalante-Torrey-Hanksville-Green River-GJ-Montrose-Gunnison-Canon City-home.
Ran into a nice couple from the Springs at the hotel in Escalante, ran into them again when we stopped for coffee in Torrey. They were headed to Blanding via Hite and back to COS via the Paradox Valley I think.
