I’m just curious how many miles the average guy/girl here rides.

Myself, I’m currently at about 7500-ish this year. This riding season I’m looking at probably 9-10k mi, so long as that cursed snow holds off  Mad2 (I did about 8k last year). I consider that a decent number for someone in the Midwest (I seldom meet people that ride more than that around here), but it’s hardly a ground breaking achievement. Over the past 5 years or so my average miles has steadily climbed as I’ve slowly accumulated more gear to let me ride in “less favorable” conditions.
I love being on 2 wheels but I’m a busy 30-something with a wife and 2 boys (7 and 4). Between that and the horrid time of year called “winter” I just can’t seem to get past 10k/yr. I sure as heck try though!  Bigsmile

This poll needs higher choices. 25k is nothing for many people on this board.
I've done 25k on my new Griso that is only 9 months old.
And I'm certain other people do much much more.

20-25 most years, 25+ some years. I picked the latter cause it's cooler  Lol

I only have a car for emergencies, probably put less than 1k on it a year.

According to the US DOT, in 2003 the average motorcycle was ridden 1800mi/year.
I figured 14x the national average was high enough to adequately say "I live on my bike"  Bigsmile.
I'm not really looking for who puts the most insane number of miles on their bike in a year (actually, I think there's another poll for that somewhere), just an average. Besides, I'd be willing to bet the "over 25k/yr" club is the small end of the bell-shaped curve, even here.

Used to be 15K - 20K, but it's tailed off a bit in the last couple years (no commuting and few after dinner rides). Now in the 10K - 15K range, pretty much all weekend twisty rides with no long trips (just long weekends).

I couldn't even vote on this one.  I don't ride for the sake of just racking up miles anymore.  Where I live is just too damn boring and infernally hot and I've seen it all within a 10 hour radius of home.  I'll do big vacation trips and commute everyday (8 miles each way).  Not much chance in rolling over an odometer anymore.  Ride 6 days a week but am at less than 10,000 miles a year now probably. I think I average around 8,000/yr. maybe more if I get a good trip in. I've put 12,000 on my 990 in a year and a half, 1200 on the CBR in 6 months Rolleyes, and a few hundred on my 300. My typical free weekend consists of a day trail riding on the 300 (60ish miles but about 6 hours) and a 150 or so mile day ride on the CBR or the 990.
last weekend the wife an I did a little 0ver 300miles on the 990 but it was almost all off pavement so it took a while Wink

I usually hit around 15k a year. I commute most days and ride the bike as general transport, take a few long day trips in the summer etc. I don't really focus on miles for the sake of miles, I just ride as much as I can.

7 months per year of riding is a good year. I've ridden 15,000 kms since April 7th. Weather dependent I'll ride till end of October. I've driven 3,000 kms since Jan 1st.

I've averaged about 30,000 miles per year for about as long as I can remember. I don't do cars as I just don't enjoy them, once I started riding I had no use for them and gave up 4 wheel contraptions. As a Motorcyclist I just could not make myself live in an area where the weather could take away months of my riding season.

When we moved to Longmont, my commuting miles were cut out of my ride. I ride the bicycle in nicer weather and start taking the motorcycle to work when it gets colder (started this Monday). But if we calculate out the miles I've ridden since 2001 when I got back on motorcycles and divide by 11:

Harley 1 and Harley 2, 40,000
GSXR 750, 5,000
SV650, 2,000
Goldwing, 600
TransAlp, 4,000
Hayabusa, 114,000
Total: 165,600 miles since Sept of 2001.

Divide by 11: 15,054 miles per year on average.

These last couple years I've averaged about 12K per year. I've had my zx14 since June and I just rolled over 10k on it.  I should get another 2-3K on it before the end of the year. I usually ride all year round unless there's snow and ice on the ground or it gets much below 30*F.
