Damn it... I was just figuring out how I could get one in this year yet. But I'll be in the UP with the wife that weekend. The weekend before would be the better one for me being the wife is out of town.
That and you're starting from the wrong side of the state. lol

Could you lay out your intended route? I live on the wrong side of the lake, but have been looking at doing this trip eventually.

I did manage to ride all the way around Lake Michigan this summer, but I took seven days and detoured out to Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota. I attempted a SS on the way back from Sturgis SD, but got caught in a major rain storm in Wisconsin @ 740 miles and 13 hours in. The rain was bad enough that cars were pulling off the road. My gloves and boots were soaked through and I wimped out and got a room for the night.  The next morning I rode the remaining 600 miles home

Good luck and weather with your ride!

For those Michigan folks interested, I could be persuaded to set a route up and participate in a Lake Michigan SS1000 early next summer starting in Lansing.  Each rider on their own, witnesses provided for start and end, gas stops and a gps route included to keep you on track for mileage and certification.  I'd like to eventually do all four ATL Saddlesores - Huron, Michigan, Superior and Erie/Ontario.
