I am going to be in North York next weekend and would appreciate any input from the locals on nice places to see on Saturday and Sunday. The hotel is just off of 404 and 401. Is there anything that is a must see or must do while in the area? Any restaurant recommendations? Thanks!

Take the TTC downtown. There's nothing at the 404 and 401. You must be travelling on business: no one would stay there by choice.

There's a subway station at Fairview Mall, which is probably walking distance from wherever you're at. Catch the Jays and the Red Sox, check out the Eaton Centre, wander around Toronto. Any number of things to do in TO, much less so in North York.

Having grown up at Jane and Finch (ya, thats right, you heard me) I'll have to recommend you stay inside your accommodations and don't make eye contact with anybody.

As for food, I think you'll be surrounded by 24 hour dim sum restaurants and bubble tea joints where you are if memory serves. It's been a while since I was there.

Thank you for all the replies, I appreciate the information. I am definitely going to the Dutch Dream Ice Cream joint and taking the subway to downtown at least for one night.

Yeah, he'll be a little further from Jane & Finch so the local environs (to the hotel) may not be too bad - typical big city street smarts should be applied however.

I haven't spent enough time in the specific area to recommend local sights, but there are some good restaurants along the east tip of Finch W and onto Finch E.
