Reading over at ADVrider, word is out that the property has been sold and will REOPEN in the spring!

Probable name change because the original proprietor has trademarked the name.

If true, that will be excellent, it was truly one of those iconic motorcycle gathering places. I still have a Kawasaki Good Times T-Shirt from 1991 from a Kawasaki ad campain that first featured places like TWO in the ads, then due to demand they actually held events at these places.

Whoa! This is awesome news.  Bigok

The way that whole deal went down with the original campground closing down was tragic.

This thread is kind of cryptic for the uninformed...never mind, I found their web site at http://www.twowheelsonly.com/.  Cool

most excellent, I'm glad someone has stepped up. Every time I ride by there, I look for a "sold" sign hoping it will reopen

I may be in the minority but I was not impressed with this place when I visited a couple of years ago.  I called in advance, made reservations, got there in the middle of the afternoon just as yet another thunderstorm was approaching and the place was locked up tight. Waited for an hour in the rain. No one ever showed up, no note on the door indicating when they might return. I ended up leaving and finding another place to sleep that night.

I can see the appeal of the place. I understand it's iconic status. But sadly all I saw in person was a locked building.

I may die with nothing to show for it but there will be a heck of a garage sale.

Might be why it closed.  You caught it on the decline.  I used to go there quite often 10-12 years ago and enjoyed each stay.

The owner/developer of T.W.O. (Frank) was very familiar with the owner/developer of Deals Gap resort Crossroads of Time (Pete). There was a bit of a rivalry between these characters and they frequently spoke of what a fool the other was. The more well-known TWO got the more money Pete would invest in the Crossroads of Time and visa-versa.
Between those two men we all owe thanks (maybe yes - maybe no) for the current popularity of this area and its being marketed to motor sports enthusiast. I knew both of these men well.

I have been up in the area a few times in the past 2 months.
My wife and I bought a house up in Suches on Wolf Pen Gap Rd.
I went by TWO and was surprised to see work going on at the resort.
Turns out the guy that we bought our house from is the same person that bought TWO.

Here are some photos from a couple of weeks ago:

Very good to see that.

To Windblown, it's been a while since I've been there, but I seem to recall instructions near the door to the effect of "if we're not here, go in this way."  If you were camping, you'd just go ahead and pitch a tent.  They kinda operated on the honor system.

In years past I would show up during those odd winter days when the temps were up and find the bathrooms unlocked and the WiFi still up and running.

yep. it was late fall when i first stayed there. i'd made a reservation for a shared cabin/room. i got there late, so they had a note on the door that told me where my "room" was. i ran into a friend also staying there. i left before they got up the next morning, so my $20 was left with him to pass on.

VERY informal but less so than the gas station nearby. it may or may not be open depending on if the owner went fishing.

Yeah, that was Dale.  He sold the store/gas station. Now it's the Wolf Pen Country Store or something like that.  New owners are pretty cool and seem to be pretty reliable.  My wife and I go up about every weekend and they have been open so far.

BTW, The 180 Cafe about 3 miles up on the right is closing this weekend for the winter.  Sadly they will not be opening next year.  They lease and the owners are going through some marital difficulties.  Sucks because it was a short walk from our house. Sad

Went up there once.  It was nice enough but very limited nice roads in the area.  Probably why it couldn't draw enough sport riders, but the HD Pirates seemed to like it.

True, the new owners had a falling out.  One still owns it and is doing reno now.  Should be open for the spring.

Last weekend I rode past TWO and the driveway had just been poured with concrete.  No idea how far the concrete will extend as only the first 30' from Hwy 60 had been poured.
Can't count the times I have seen riders drop there bikes on the gravel and dirt driveway.
