A couple months ago my mom got an unexpected windfall and decided to treat immediate and some extended family to a week in Nags Head on the beach. I mentioned I would try a SS1000 to Key West as it was over a 1000 miles,I had never been there, and I could take my time coming back.Rode down from Balto on the 8th of Sep with the IBA forms printed and in my tankbag. On the 10th at 0930AM my brother filled out the start witness form,I gassed up for the receipt, and took off.I was on 4 lanes within the first 100 miles and slabbed it all the way down. At 4AM on the 11th I was on Marathon Key and my knees were killing me. I figured I'd find a end witness-stopped at 2 24hr store gas stations and neither attendant would even fill out much less sign the form. Saw a deputy sheriff parked at a boat ramp so figured why not ask? Pulled over just as he started to take off and he stopped and asked if I was ok-asked if he would sign me off. He directed me up to another gas station into a lighted area,I explained what I needed and a little about IBA rides and he was more than happy to fill in the form and sign it.My odometer shows 1004 mi but google says 1072-maybe my PR3 is throwing off the odo as I noticed I was showing 8mph slower on the speedo than the GPS.Now that I was signed off I rode into Key West, took a few pictures, and started back. I should have kept getting gas receipts as I finally stopped just over the Fl line in New Brunswick Ga at  7PM which would have given me 1500mi in 36 hrs. I definatly need a Russell day long before I do something like this again-and I will.  Jeff

I know it's hard to take the time for photos, but a few here and there can really spice up an SS1000 report.

That aside, good job.  Wasn't so hard, was it?  Now you'll start tinking about long days in a different light.

Way to go, Jeff.  It is a good feeling to complete this and it opens up a whole new set of vistas.
