Should the SV650 turn indicators operate also as marker lights?

I have a 2006 SV650s.  I don't recall if mine were on when the bike is running, meaning they are running lights, or if they are only on when the turn signal is activiated for turns.

I recently had the upper cowl on my bike off and disconnected the turn signals.  Now, I'm trying to determine if this is normal, or I have an issue.  I honestly don't remember, but I think they should be acting as running lights.

I don't have a service manual.  I have downloaded the PDF service manual files for a 2003 a while ago but now I'm trying to find those files on my hard drive.

Thanks.

No. They're single-filament lights on that bike.

Also, point of fact, orange marker lights are illegal on the back of any vehicle across the US.

this is my hammer. my dad gave it to me. he got it from his dad who got it from his before him. it's been in the family for generations. we've had to replace the handle a few times and the head twice but it priceless because of its family history.

Thanks!

I was looking online for photos and thought mine was operating properly but wasn't sure as so many SV650 owners mod their bikes.

I didn't think logically about the rear-facing orange marker lights as I was worried my had an issue.

To be fair, dual-filament conversions (market & signal) are popular mods, and easy to do. I wish more bikes had proper marker lights.

Harley sells a kit that plugs into the harness and you replace the yellow rear lenses with red ones. Instant marker/turn-signal lights without ever having to cut or splice wires.  Thumbsup

I assuming BOTH the front and rear are only turn signals, correct?

Yep.

I'm planning on doing a front marker light conversion on mine at some point soon. If I can find decent looking red turn signals, I might do the rears, too. We'll see.

Good to know I don't have to go fumbling through the turn signal wires again to trouble shoot.

Thanks, again.  Thumbsup

Always happy to help.

Also, I like electrical stuff, so I generally take an interest in these types of threads.  Thumbsup
