I hope it's a knockout like some of the bikes they've been putting out recently.   Thumbsup

I see what you did there.

I stumbled across these ghost images of past honda v4s that I couldn't let slip by without sharing.

I always used to daydream about what if Yamaha stuffed a V-Max engine inside an FJ1200 chassis.

 Inlove Inlove Inlove Inlove Inlove

yeah, i know the RC30 and NR750 are pretty badass, but the RC45 is one of my dream bikes.

hey, i'd take a VFR1000RR. i wouldn't cry too much. If Honda actually did make one and priced it near the RSV4, i would have a hard time picking one. or, if they came back out with a VFR750RR.... i might have to seriously trade over to it....  they better do something....  vfr1200 did not impress me....

Larry got banned so no joy on the V4 topic from him.

Just because there is a burning desire to hear from Larry, I present his thoughts on the thread subject matter via proxy.

Quote from: 'BusyLittleShop'

Honda's new race bred V4 may resemble the RC30's paint scheme but the engine architecture will resemble the RC45... after all it was the base for the MotoGp RC211V V5 because HRC designs are evolutionary not
revolutionary...

There is no right or wrong angle when selecting your V4... the
engineer is free to select a narrow angle 75º with power robbing
shafts or a simple 90º with out power robbing balance shafts...

Quote Kevin Cameron:
"As many have noted (including Jeremy Burgess) the original RC211V
V-Five  was just a developed V-Four RC45 Superbike engine with an
added cylinder"

Quote Rossi's crew chief Jeremy Burgess:
"The Honda is the V5, if you look an it closely, has a lot of the
architecture of the RC45/RVF750 with another cylinder attached."

You never know, they might surprise us.  Depends on if the same pudwhacker that was making decisions when they developed the V12 is still around.

Don't forget the automatic transmission and linked brakes.

Seriously, they need to go back to designing and building game changing motorcycles that people actually want.

To be fair, back in the 1970s motorcycling was almost a blank slate. People took off the lights and mirrors and presto...instant dirt bike  Lol

Not so easy nowadays to produce an Elsinore or a Gold Wing.

Based on some rather new thinking and positive evolution seen in the CBR250, then dirtying it up for the CF250, and in the NC700X, and the potential presented in the VFR1200 as a platform, I'm betting a re-emergence of Honda's V4 sport bike will be a game winner. Not a game changer because, frankly, the game don't need no changin! Just needs some fresh takes on old ideas.  Thumbsup

I'm betting they have the RSV4 clearly in the center of their cross hairs.

Do other manufacturer forums get this much whining? Every topic has several "Honda makes boring [read: balanced and reliable] motorcycles" posts. Ironic that even a topic on a rumored return to a V has people complaining.

Re BLS: what happened? Anyone have a link?

Never mind, found it. Not surprised -- he always comes off as a bit of an obsessive nut on the forums I've seen him on.

I don't know, but it's getting old.

I mean, there's going to be a new bike in the market place. That's a  Thumbsup Thumbsup Thumbsup all day long!

That's because Honda set the standard and now all they make are unappealing, fugly bikes with pointless technology.

Such as?

Then there are the complainers that the CBR doesn't have traction control like [insert boutique bike here].

He's going to point out the auto-shifting dual-clutch "automatic" transmission.

I'm convinced that anything that gets more people riding is a (generally speaking, here) good thing.

Ducati and BMW seem to be doing very well with all their pointless technology, so I really don't think it's the valid argument.

Honda's main and primary issues are ever-increasing prices, usually for stuff that hasn't changed in a long, long time.
