cool bridge and a question
«

found this bridge today at work:
very interesting (and long) old bridge. still in use and actually not too bad of shape. As I was standing inteh middle of it looking down the river, which is very low, I got to thinking....
can you ride down a river bottom? It's a navigable waterway when it is full, but if it is empty is the riverbed still open to public use? is so can I ride up/down it?? just a thought

I have no idea if it's leagle or not but there's a ton of motorcycle, 4x4 and ATV traffic in the RioGrande river bed south of Albuquerque when the water is low. It looks like a blast.

Give your SD Dept. of Natural Resources (or whatever they call it in SD) and ask. ORV's Dirtbikes have different rules than boats.
I like your thought process though!

The barbed wire fence would indicate to me that it is private property.

on the side I was taking the photo from, yes. but, the river is a navigable waterway (open to public (canoes/kayaks/etc.) hence my question

THIS
My answer is yes...do it...who the F-cares. Who is going to report you? And who is going to able to find you/catch up to you in time to even give you a hard time. I think the only issue they would have would be if you were IN THE WATER. Pollutants etc. But a dry river bed may cross into private lands--

There are often fences along roads that do not indicate private property . . .. .
Recently seen sign . . . . "State Property -- No Admittance"
I thought, wait, who IS the state, after all?
