A Kamloops, B.C., man is celebrating after landing one of the biggest fish ever caught in the Fraser River — the second giant fish caught in the river in recent months.
Norman Daley was out on a company fishing tour near Chilliwack Friday when he landed a white sturgeon more than three-and-a-half metres long and weighing nearly 500 kilograms.

There has been bigger ones caught out of the Fraser.
One of my old co-workers used to have a job in Liloette recovering logs from log jams, and on a couple occasions he found the bodies of native fishermen who had falen in the river & were swept downstream. He tells me the Sturgeon make meals out of anything that has bounced along the bottome for a few days.

Caviar comes from the virgin sturgeon
Virgin sturgeon's a very good fish
No good sturgeon wants to be a virgin
That's why caviar's a very rare dish

That's an impressive feet for species that doesn't have teeth and has to swallow its food whole!

Oh that is no how it works. These are things that have been in the river for a while so flesh starts to fall off the bones on its own. That big mouth is really one large vacuum.
So the bodies have no bite marks, but arms & thighs get sucked clean to the bones. (Much like a Hooters chicken wing in my hands)
Sturgeon eat primarily dead rotting things.

Saw that program of that English guy fishing for them. What I found amazing was the teeth actually fit into holes in the jaw when the mouth is closed.
