My wife is very concerned that the rumor of a possible settlement may kill my progress in finishing the renovations on the downstairs area if our house.

What I think should happen is, the fans get organized.  We warn the NHL owners and players that it is us lowly fans that pay for everything.  Then we give them an altimatum.  Get back playing hockey by the 20th of January or we don't go to a single game for the rest of the year.  See how big their demands are when nobody shows up to watch.  If they don't get back we also don't go next year.  Lets show them who is the boss.  There is power in solidarity and organizaion.
