I have a Breva
1100
and the aprilia. Not sure if a comparison between a B 1100 and a Futura would help you?
A tank of fuel in the Futura will do around 200 miles. The Breva can do around 225-250 pretty consistantly. I've reached 270 miles on the Guzzi before refueling.
Futura = comfy on the butt. Breva = comfy on the arms and wrists.
You can install a GIVI style trunk on the Breva in a half hour if you need more storage. We do 2up about 100% of the time.
Bags are interchangable. Breva side bags can be mounted to the same stock brackets on Futura and visa-versa.
Futura will get you swiftly from point A to point B and you will get many "thumbs up" from every type of person. I feel like the Breva could get you from A to B a little slower and even if you had to ride some roads that would be considered "less traveled". The Breva feels more heavy duty. And the majority of "thumbs up" will be from old school types and those more in tune with all bikes. No one will understand who makes either bike. Breva - "Is that some sort of BMW???" Futura - "Who makes an aprilia? Kawasaki? Bet it costs alot!!"

Chris, my 1200 Sport experience is close to your feelings with your Breva 1100. I'm still not ready to part with it after 31,000 miles, yet... but may be getting closer. That is until I take it over to NW Arkansas and we fall in love all over again.
However, the wife's 2007 Breva 750, with 11,000 miles, has been completely trouble free and very easy to do maintenance on. Very unlike the big block Sport.
And Stripes, if you thought the R1200R was underpowered, consider pulling one plug wire off and that would be close to the Breva 750.

I see you're in MI.
If the Breva 750 you're looking at is for sale by Andy in Royal Oak, the buying process will be easy. I just bought my 1200 Sport from Andy and it was completely painless - he took plenty of time to describe the bike and send me photos and rode it to the shipping terminal; it arrived in the exact condition he said it was in - pristine!
I can't comment on the small-block but if he's the seller, you'll get exactly what he represents.

It's a different one! The one I was considering is in the Stockbridge area. Congratulations to you for your purchase though! Cheers

I have only had one experience with small-block Guzzis. It was a 30-min test ride on a V7 classic. That was enough for it to rank very highly on my buy list. I ended up on a Tiger 800, but the V7 remains in my thoughts and the new Stone V7 is my current workstation wallpaper at work. The one I rode didn't have quite the chutzpah as the Aprilia/Duc/Triumph 750-800 engines, but it is very evocative and I felt it had adequate power for my needs.
That said, the Aprilia 750 is very nice as well and has a good edge on power in comparison. The Shiver may be a good one to consider if you want another Italian bike.

+1
The shiver remains on my "second bike" list for that time in the future when I can once again afford to eat more extravagantly than ramen noodles.

this is my hammer. my dad gave it to me. he got it from his dad who got it from his before him. it's been in the family for generations. we've had to replace the handle a few times and the head twice but it priceless because of its family history.

I wouldn't mind having another Italian motorcycle, probably not another Duc though. I will research the Aprilia Shiver today. Thanks dudes!

Also look at the Dorsoduro for those Hooligan moments. It comes in a 750 version and looks to be a wheelie fun bike!

I would do the Shiver over the Dorsoduro all day long. More comfortable seat and more practical ergonomics. I hear a certain dealer in the northwest has new leftovers (with full factory warranty) for a ridiculously low price...
