Sold the FJR a few weeks ago and picked up a lightly used 2012 K1300S last week from a private owner.  The bike had 2,669 miles on it and was new last March so it still has 2 and 1/2 years left on the warranty and included the bags, rear rack and center stand.  Fully loaded which wasn't really a priority with me but is how most of them are equipped.

The FJR was nice, a really great highway bike and easy to take care of but in the end, I had more fun on my K1200S.  I'm happy to be back on a BMW.

Haven't had the chance to detail it yet but the previous owner had it cleaned up pretty well.

Awesome! Very nice!  Thumbsup  It looks really good in silver. I have to say, as of late these K1300S bikes are really growing on me. Congratulations! Wise choice on the change from the FJR.

That's purdy  Thumbsup

I've been thinking more and more about the K1300s lately as a Busa replacement for when the time comes. Hopefully it won't be for a while though  Lol

Zowee!  Guess I'm not too surprised, but wondering just how you got past the 'I don't trust BMW/no dealer' thing you had going for a while?  Bigsmile

Not sure that I'm past it, for sure the dealer situation is still going to be a PITA, especially if I need one for other than a scheduled service.  I still think reliability isn't going to be what it is on a Japanese brand but they have made some significant improvements to this model since my 06 bike.  Much improved clutch/transmission, updated cam chain tensioner and cam chain jump guard, deletion of servo brakes etc.  There are still items that could be huge expense if they fail out of warranty but I guess I'm willing to take the gamble.  I just keep coming back to these bikes, they're so dang nice.

You really should try one. :pokestick: Wink

I test rode the VFR1200 this summer, so it had a chance, but as nice as the motor is on that thing I just don't have enough room on it.  A big bike built for a small person.

That is an awesome bike; congratulations!  The black wheels look fantastic.  Does it have shift assist? I absolutely love that option.

I've always said I'd like to own one of every major marque before I die.... but BMW is simply above my payscale. Unless I get an old & cursed F650.  Lol

I'd drool all over your bike, Roger, so best I stay away!

It does have shift assist.  So far I just find it weird to use, I have a hard time not closing the throttle when I'm trying to let the shift assist do it's thing. Seems unnatural at this point but I'm sure it'll get better.

Just turned 800 miles on mine and what I'm finding is that I really don't like the shift assist in the city and low speeds. (never get out of 2nd gear in town anyways). I find it to abrupt at low speeds in the lower gears. But when I'm on the freeway and want to go from 3rd to 4th or 4th to 5th I like it, and when I'm in the middle of nowhere and decide to go from 0 to something just short of losing my license fast, holy crap, it's a nice option then. And yes, it does feel " like being fired from a giant slingshot"!
Congrats on the bike.
