So did you guys sleep through this or what? I've heard mixed comments from people in/around Vancouver who felt it, but I haven't heard from any one on the island itself.

I was seeing reports from Hawaii about Tsunamis, so far they had only been around 1 to 2 feet.
No mention of the earthquake or if anyone had been injured.

Three maple syrup pails were knocked off their pegs, and at least one moose was spooked.

Here's a link to a website a friend of mine who's in earthquake research told me about.
Did You Feel It?
The recent BC quake is about half way down the page. It's interesting to note how far away some of the respondents live.

I felt it here on Vancouver, 8th floor, pretty noticeable swaying. As a former Californian, I knew what it was right away. Just didn't realize it was a big one 500 miles away.
And the aftershocks are a bit...worrying. It's not done yet.

You're a good 1000 miles away from the epicenter Jeff, so I'd be really surprised if you felt anything.

After actually *looking* at the map, I see that it hit quite a bit further north/northwest than I originally thought. Regardless, glad to hear that you guys are ok

Someone may have got seriously hurt Mr., if they were standing on those 3 pails getting intimate with the moose. (You would have to spend some time in Northern BC to understand loneliness.

Yes...but there were people as far away as Alberta who said they felt it, apparently.

I was reading a thread somewhere else about the quake. Somebody said it'd be fine with them if all of coastal Cali, Portlandia and Hipsteatle fell into the ocean, but it'd be a damned shame to lose BC bud. Which made me scratch my head, because most connoisseurs of that particular sort of thing also seem to love all three of those other places, or so I thought.
