It is quite awesome.

The far right Information Pod (which just has the startup logo "FJR" in the below pic) contains multiple pages of data you can cycle through, all menu-driven. Yamaha put a lot of thought into this:

Is the seat any better? The Gen 1 I had was literally a pain in the ass.

Apparently it is exactly the same.  100% unchanged.

Well, I may be looking at the new Trophy harder now, unless Honda pulls something fantastic out of the dark morass which is their R&D dept.

Lots of good options for the seat.

The Sprint GT has been slow-adopted in the aftermarket, so if you don't like the seat on the Trophy, you're no better off, and with a WAY more expensive bike. The ~10 years of FJR life suggest it's probably worth looking at if it's a bike that was already on your short list.

The Gen I and GEN II have different seats that are not interchangeable.  The 2013 seat appears to be the same seat as the GEN IIs.    I thought the GEN I seat was too soft and replaced it with a Rich's seat.   I think the GEN II has a much better seat then the GEN I and after 5 years I am still using the OEM seat.....but a lot of other GEN II owners have different opinions.

I have replaced my totaled Buell Uly with a Gen III FJR.  The dealership received it today and I will hopefully get it home sometime next week.

The adventure begins.

Yes, the FJR is at the dealership and I will take delivery of it tomorrow.  It is sweet.  And yes, the dash is killer.

So Ed, yes, I am now a FJR owner.  Hopefully I will get the miles out of it like you have with yours.

If you are interested in photos of the totaled Uly, there are here:

Quite fitting that it should be raining and 41° when I bring the bike home.  I had it out for about an hour on its maiden voyage.  Also, it is number 198.
