So my R1200Gs is supposed to put out 740 watts. My question is, when do you get the full 740? Is there a chart somewhere that shows the output at, say, 3500rpm, 5000 rpm, etc? I figure some BMW-head out there has done all this research. I tend to run no lower than 4500rpm when running the grips on broil, and my jacket and pants on med-hi. I'm warm, but I wonder while I am sitting at lights or moving through slow traffic, am I draining on the battery heavily?

The beauty of alternators is that they "ramp up" rather
quickly and give nearly full output long before peak RPMs.
While the system may be lax at idle, at anything above
a walking speed you're likely getting sufficient output.
