I've ridden Goldwings extensibly, and I normally ride a sports tour bike.
The Goldwing 1800 is a nice bike. A lot sportier than its weight and customer base would let you believe. It's a great bike to ride the twisties, if you want. It is big and comfortable and nimble once under way. It is a heavy pig in a parking lot.
But in no way does it compare with real sports tour bikes. Even the FJR is a lightweight, nimble thing, compared to a wing.

This is my wife and I enjoying the view a top of passo San Marco, It.  Lol

It'll grow on ya eventually......Although I'm still at a loss.

Have owned Wing and C-10 at same time, liked the Wing 2 up slow.... Liked the C-10 1 up everywhere else.

Wing also excelled on the super slabs. I guess its all in what kind of riding you want to do.

I think it's freaking nice. I'd hit it.  Inlove

One of the best-looking "cruiser style" bikes I've seen in a long time." At least it's not a Harley wanna be/design rip-off.
Needs a nice snuggy heated garage though to keep it pretty.

"Strikingly similar"??? Hardly. If you take your finger and trace the basic outline of the bike, then yes, those lines are similar.

They are both cruisers. However very very different from one another. Lack of the acres of chrome in the middle is one indicator.  Rolleyes

My point is that it's not the usual "Big V-Twin" copy of a HD.

Raise that ass end up, shorten the overall wheelbase and you'd have something that almost looks like a C14.

The Harley depicted is the RoadGlide. The StreetGlide is the better analog.

The F6B is the 'Wing's answer to the StreetGlide, which originally was a chopped and lowered Ultra. It became such a popular build in the aftermarket, that Harley built it from the factory and called it the StreetGlide. Since then, every big-boy cruiser-styled bike has had some sort of similar enough treatment, and the 'Wing is the logical progression in a style line that sells very, very well across a variety of manufacturers.

It's no surprise this bike isn't well regarded on this forum, but trust me, this thing will sell, and at !$6k less than the fully accommodated 'Wing, it'll be a hot-ticket item for those looking at this market segment. It's also almost dollar-for-dollar right in line with the Street Glide, while providing immensely better performance in every single metric.

It's a bad-ass looking bike, and when it comes to the performance aspect of those bikes, it's *already* got what people drop an additional $10K into a Harley to achieve, all the while outhandling the Harley by a huge margin.

It's a win.

The Honda is probably more like the Roadglide than the Streetglide because of the fixed fairing. The SG has the fork mounted batwing style fairing where the RG has a frame mounted fixed fairing.

Nothing, really. The Streetglide has a lowered ass. I don't think the Roadglide does. That is, however, easily adjusted with the included air shocks (running them high), or by replacing them with the original longer ones and running them at the normal, lower pressure.

Funny, I rode with 3 guys on Sunday who had batwings and changed over to RGs and all said how much better of a ride it was. Guess it's all subjective.

I found the buffeting even worse on the RG than on the batwing bikes. Yeah, I'm sure it's all subjective. Body shape and height counts a lot, as does leg position and length. On all these bikes, air comes in low, and the legs help channel the air up. That mixes with the air going up and over the top of the fairing and whammo, a tornado of destruction, usually right at the top of the helmet.

I enjoy my naked bike more and more every time I ride a partially-faired bike. Fully faired bikes are so much better than everything else for wind control.

Honda has put out a whole shitload of new models recently, and because they redress one of their most enduring, iconic machines in a very popular style, THAT'S what you get on them about?

I give up. "Motorcyclists" are some seriously fucked up people.   Lol Lol Lol

I owned a Wing 1800 and much prefer the EGlide bikes.
As a 'machine', the Wing is much better.
As an 'experience', the Harley is much more enjoyable.

And riding is all about the experience.

Why would they bother with this is my question? you could take any 1800 Wing, which btw hasn't changed since 2001, and make one of these idiotic things with a jigsaw and 15 minutes. I'd be alot more impressed if they just added elec shield to the current Wing.

I find it amazing all the fervor this thing is causing on this forum, considering 1) all the stuff that Honda also released, and 2) how all you people claim you'd never own/buy/ride a 'Wing 'cause you're too sissy to ride a heavier bike they're too heavy for "SPORT-touring".  Lol Lol

That F6B looks great in the flesh and I found it more accommodating when sitting on it than the full sized Wing. I would consider it, but the lack of a reverse on such a big bike would concern me.

Easy to move around, dismounted. Or just be careful about parking spots.

I keep meaning to shoot a video of me moving bikes around. It's all about leaning it against your hip. Most people try to move the bike perfectly upright; it's wickedly unstable to do that. Far too easy to go over the other side.

I"ve used the reverse on my GL1800 exactly once, and it wasn't really necessary. select parking spots somewhat carefully, don't nose in downhill to curbs, and you have no problems other than ordering a new set of footpegs every year to replace the ground-off pair. Bigok

Exactly, with a whopping 28" inseam my Honda ST's might as well have been Wings, backing up hill and on loose stuff was a piss poor option for me. Park smart and don't worry about it.

Same issue with me and the Connie C10. 29 inch seat height and I wear 30L jeans. Parking spots picked carefully with my bike as well.
I've been in some hairy situations with slickery surfaces or gravelly rolling marbles under my feet.

I used the reverse on my Wing countless times.
You can try to pretend it's ok it's gone on the F6B, but you're kidding yourself.

I've always tried to park nose facing uphill etc, but there are times when that option is just not available.  When all the good parking spots are taken.

And there are other times when you have to park on loose surfaces (gravel, wet grass etc) where sitting on the scoot and hitting reverse to back out is much much more stable than trying to paddle it out.

Yeah, IMO losing the reverse is a huge mistake.

No.

I believe it's available after market.

Also...

Be a man and back that shit up. But to be fair, all the Harley offerings have lower seats and frame than the 'Wing.

That's an excellent question. I poked around a bit and it turns out there are aftermarket kits to add reverse. I liked one comment, though: "A fixed fairing and reverse? Why not just buy a Gold wing?"

Edit: Oops. Carbo-man beat me to the punch.
