This interesting.   I wonder if they'll introduce a similar setup on a full-face or Revolver based helmet as well.

Bell Helmets today announced during the Media Preview Day at the 2012 Long Beach International Motorcycle Show, the release of the Mag-9 Sena, an open-face helmet designed specifically to accommodate the Sena SMH10 Bluetooth stereo headset communications system. An upgraded version of the Mag-9, released in February 2012, features the highly popular Sena SMH10 and Bell is the first helmet manufacturer to integrate a docking system for the SMH10 system, allowing for convenient attachment. The all-new helmet and communications device combination will be available for media and consumers to see during the three day motorcycle show at the Long Beach Convention Center.

Big fan of Sena.
Open face, less so.
I fail to see why one would want to limit oneself to only one Comm system though...

Agreed on the Open Face helmet.  Would love to see the set up on a Revolver.  BTW I already have Sena's and really like them, so for me at least its just plug & play.

I also wonder how hard mounted the helmet speakers are, or if there is room for adjustments to align with individual ear canals.

I'm new to having a BT system, bought an SMH10 a few months ago for my RF1000...is everyone else buying multiple systems for a single helmet?  Headscratch

Well, if you had bought a Scale, you would probably need to switch out to a Sena when it failed.

The option is there with any other helmet.
If the Sena should fail/wear out/ get lost/go bankrupt, you would have to replace it with another of the same unit, as it's integral to the helmet.

You know what'd be really nice?

A /standard/. BT can interoperate with all sorts of devices via all these profiles. A standard for 'longer range communication' that would let my Sena pair and talk to a Cardo, or a Nolan built in, or whatever.

Yes, if you got an integrated solution you'd still (sort of) be locked in. (There's nothing stopping you bolting ScachatteruCoclearlin thing to you enabled helmet, after all). At least then you could talk to everyone else's device.

It's not entirely in the manufacturer's interest, and the market is niche enough that I don't see the push for it. It'd still be so bloody nice.
