Sprint ST 1050 Fairing Mods: Sprintonaspeed thread
«
on:
December 27, 2012, 01:43:13 PM »
Greetings, all. There was a thread here from a few years ago, where a member did some pretty sweet fairing modifications to his Sprint ST 1050. He referred to it as a Sprintonaspeed.
I saved the pics, which are on an external hard drive elsewhere, and it looked really sharp. It was silver, and the main windscreen area was untouched, but the lower bodywork was mostly gone.
Does anyone remember that thread? I used the Search function within S-T.N as well as externally, both to no avail. Not sure if given its age, perhaps it was archived elsewhere on the site.
If anyone can point me to that thread, I'd greatly appreciate it. Or if that user is still around, give me a shout.
Thanks in advance, and happy new year!
Doug

Well, I grabbed the pics I had saved elsewhere, and here are two of them. Perhaps a precursor to the upcoming Tiger Sport 1050?

Wow, that would get rid of a lot of the heat problems!

Triumph quit making the Sprint RS for a reason.
Different strokes for different folks.

I sort of see the resemblance there Stripes. I didn't care for the early RS's myself, but the last year they were made, I think it was '04, with the single sided swingarm and no chrome graphics looked great.

It was '04. I think you could only get them in blue or black. SprintRSrider has a blue one & RIDUX had a black one. I've ridden them both. Both nice bikes but not my style. I made that comment mostly to razz SprintRSrider!

So, is it possible that the upcoming Tiger Sport 1050 is a rebirth ( of sorts ) of the Sprint RS? Similar body work, not as jacked up as a typical Tiger, at least in preliminary spy shots.

I know nothing of this. I haven't seen or heard anything from Triumph in a while. I'm looking forward to checking them out at the IMS this year though.

What day are you going? Is there a MI Region 4 IMS meet?

I don't know of a meet. Every year a couple of people talk about going but I've never gone w/ or have seen any STN members while I was there. If I go to the one in Novi, I would more than likely go on Saturday. I may not go unless I put my Norton in the MNOA Booth. I'm undecided. It's kind of boring walking around there as it is especially alone. Let me know when you're going. I'm going to the one in Cleveland for sure though!

Having seen the Tiger Sport 1050, I'm inclined to lean towards it, assuming it comes Stateside, and isn't a king's ransom.
