I am seriously considering this bike @ Bob's BMW as a project/restoration/hobby bike:

So what say you fellow BMW fans?

She can't say no when it's already in the garage. That's how I got my Ducati.

Been there, done that! Can you say "money pit", buckets and buckets of money and you might have something worth 2000

I was looking a 1987 K100RS last at a local dealer for $2,995 with 66,000 on it, but I'd talked myself out of it, thinking it was just too old to mess with. Now you've got me reconsidering...

Yeah I think you are right. I am really looking for a project my son and I can do together. I think I will pass on this one. Going to keep an eye out for an old airhead.

If the big things check out (engine/trans/electric) and you and your son do all the work you won't have much in it and a lifetime of memories together.

Yeah that might explain that tank. I was wondering what was up with that. Also 1/4 million miles. Good chance of it. Good catch.

I would be wary of any early K with that many miles and not knowing the condition of the transmission input shaft splines.

Yeah I'm over it. Got my eye on an old GS1100E.
This is a terrible sickness.

I owned a 1985 K100RS.
Heavy, slow, handled terrible, and hard to work on. Go with an old school Japanese bike.
I traded mine for a ZRX1100.
