What do you guys think?:

But I never tried the Sergeant seats out. The Corbin's were way to hard for me and hurt the butt. Are the Sergeant seats a little bit softer?

I don't want to test the stock seats when I pick the bike up. Too man negative reviews and I want to start riding as soon as spring time hits....

I also like the little trunk in the back when riding solo. It eliminates the tank bag for me.

I bought a Sargent for my FJR and couldn't be happier. Takes a short while to break them in, and they are slightly stiffer than stock. But that to me is a good thing.

That's the problem. Isn't a gel seat more comfortable? My Corbin's on my GSX were as stiff as rock and it did hurt the butt after a while....

I don't have experience with the Sargent, but the Corbin on my Sprint is rock hard. But, due to its shape, is far more comfortable than the stock seat.  The stock seat would feel better on the showroom floor, and for about 30 mins its fine. After that, you end up compressing that soft padding down to the seat pan.  EEK! Not comfortable.

WIth gel like everything, it depends. Some gel is too thick and kinda "bouncy". Others is better.  Shape and firmness are what is important.

And not to bust your balls, but your bike is a Concours, not a Concourse.  Wink

Thanks for the feedback. That's exactly what I was looking for. Because on the showroom floor it looked great but if it starts to sag to the pan then comfort is gone for sure.

You're not busting my balls Wink. For me it's "Concours" from now on.

Thanks a bunch!

So I took the plunge and just purchased the Sargeant Modular System. I have to get it right from day one because I pick up the bike at the end of March and right away heading on a long one with the wife.

Of the stock seat won't do then  we'll have some trouble on that trip.

I got it with the heating system as well (live In Canada).

The good thing is that the hard trunk will still fit even though I have the hard Givi back trunk mounted as well.

I also just bought the X-Creen tinted tourer. Screen and seating arrangements are always the most difficult thing to get just right.

It's a combination of posture, wind/turbulence, height.

One screen can be food for one rider but not the other. Or good for one rider on a specific bike but not on a different bike. Or good on one bike with one type of seating arrangement but not a different seating arrangement.

It's a bunch of adjustments and tinkering until the full setup is just right.

That's the one thing about swapping bikes. We have to go through the whole process all over again each time.

If it was just a case of sport riding for a day with friends then Iy wouldn't be such a big deal. But my rides are tamer, longer and, hopefully, doubled up with my wife as a passenger as often as possible.

So comfort is important for me as we'll as my passenger.

We'll see how it goes come April.

Not sure who you bought your Sargeant from but I bought it though Amazon.  I should have gone straight to Sargeant.  At least that way you have 30 days to return it at no cost.  A fact of life is no two butts are the same.  My stock 1200GS was not that bad which put me in the minority.  I did not like Mayer or Russell seats so in true lemming fashion I got the Sergeant.  Maybe, just maybe it was a tad better than stock.  I took my stock seat to Mean City Cycles in Maiden, NC.  They replaced the stock foam with two layers of memory foam.  One layer was denser and 2 inches thick, the one on top was an inch thick and less dense.  To look at it, you would say it was the stock seat but it is a bit wider across the back and there is a bit of a channel where the "boys" reside.  It is firm, but not hard.  I love it.  $150.

IIRC I have had four Corbins on four different bikes.  Two worked and two didn't.  Had all kinds of gel pads and they were a mixed bag.  None were a perfect solution but some were better than others.   Had two AirHawks.  The first one was OK until it went through the rear spokes.  I have one of the new ones with the gutter down center.  It works extremely well, but not as good as my reworked stock saddle.

I bought directly from Sargent. I also just purchased the Airhawk for myself and my pillion.

I think that I'm ready to go after all of this but only real riding will tell.
