"Safely" deposited my most enthusiastic moto passenger in State College on Friday. Safely is relative in this instance, I suppose. And  she's already complaining about the neighboring apartment's volume levels at all hours of the night.  Rolleyes And seriously, an apartment building with 0 parking but you can buy spaces for $80 per month from the adjacent building?

LOL...yup. Gotta love living "downtown." Once she gets living downtown out of her system (I think everyone does it at least one year), the apartments out on Vairo Blvd. are nice, close to lots of amenities, have parking, and some even include a bus pass to get to/from campus. The trade off is proximity to campus.

Her apt is at the end of Beaver near Kildares. She's commuted for the past 1 1/2 years and wants to be close, at least for know.

Yep. Thanks. She's pretty independent so I'll let her ask.

Is she looking for parking, or are you looking for occasional bike parking when visiting?  The big lot on campus on Hastings, which is just northeast of Gateway, etc. was really cheap.

There is MC parking on campus, and it didn't require a permit on weekends, I don't think.  The lot I parked in near dorms saw my bike sat on or moved slightly, but never really damaged or anything (that said it was a beater so I didn't really look closely).  The safer parking when I had nicer bikes - on weekends anyhow - was the parking lot behind the engineering buildings just off of Burrows.  There were several MC spots more or less on the sidewalk.

Graduated in 2000 so very dated info...

Also, only had a car 2 semesters, and never used it.  Did have a MC most of the time.  Loved living downtown and not having to drive (still do).

I was up at State College for the first time in October.  Stayed at the Nittany Lion Inn.  We walked back from eating at the Tavern and it was a decent little town.  Still bleed Maize & Blue though.   Inlove

We got her a parking permit for the lot off of Hastings. A 15 minute walk...nothing for a young college student.

Best six years of my life. Even somehow graduated. Back then tuition was no more than 4000 a year. No one can afford to spend more than four years there now. My nephew even graduated early. Good luck to yours!

I graduated in 2010. Took me 5 years, but I grabbed a masters along the way so I guess you could say that I too graduated early. I lived at "The Pointe" off of Viaro Blvd for my Sophomore year, then spent the remaining 3 years at "Copper Beech" off of Aaron Drive (across Atherton from Viaro Blvd). Great town if you can avoid getting swept up in the "fun" aspects of life. There is a lot behind the Engineering Units adjacent to Hammond Building that is free to park in on weekends, and I would leave the bike there often while doing work in the Units. Actually, sometimes I'd use the "official use only" road between Hammond and the Units and park my bike between Sackett building and the units. It's not a lot, but I never had any trouble leaving my bike there. I just pulled it right up next to the bike rack

People used to do that in the late 80's too. If you have a reason to be in those buildings, you deserve a break. BSLA, '89.
