This ride is being organized by a couple of members at VFR World.  I was invited by Duc2V4 (black VFR in last Malibu ride), and was given the green light to invite like minded riders here.  I believe 3-5 VFR riders are in from VFRWorld, which includes me.

If you like tight, twisty roads, the Malibu coastline, and a visit to the Rock Store to view all kinds of cool machinery, come join us this Saturday before the next rain comes.

I've only ridden with one other guy in this group and he was safe and conservative.  The others I'm not sure.  However, I'll keep a low profile just like the last time and just enjoy the views and the ride.  Hope to see some of you there!  Please post here or PM me to let me know if you're coming.

Orange County meet time:  7AM
Meeting Spot:  Unocal 76 station, Westminster Blvd exit from the I-405.

The rest of the group will meet somewhere in Kanaan Road by the 101 freeway around 9AM.
PM me for further details.

It was a beautiful day in paradise!  After some rain followed by strong winds, the Southern California coastline was crystal clear with dry roads and blue skies!  We rode across the seemingy never-ending tight and twisty roads around Malibu.  It was sunny but damn cold!  45 was the high in the hills, 55 along the coast.  In the morning the hills were 25 degrees!

My VFR group stopped to enjoy the view of the Pacific Ocean.

After strafing the twisties for a few hours we headed down to Pacific Coast Highway for lunch at the popular motorcycle hangout called Neptune's Net.  This place has had a couple of Hollywood films shot on its location.  I had Clam Chowder which was surprisingly pretty good.  Not sure about all the other deep fried stuff.

What I found interesting about the enthusiasts in this area was the wide variety of machines being ridden in these tight and twisty roads.  Not sure what this bike was but I'm guessing it started out as a Kawasaki cruiser (it has shaft drive) and is now a "cafe racer" of sorts.  And yes this bike was strafing the twisties with the best of them!

We met this guy at the Rock Store.  He was on a Yamaha Vmax that looks like it has been customized with stickers, and other interesting modifications!  Yup.  He was strafing the twisties too!   Lol

I had to work yesterday. It was really cold up at Pine Mountain summit.

No worries.  I figured you were busy otherwise you wouldn't miss this opportunity.

I'm "working" today, Sunday (posting from there....   Lol ).

We hit Tuna Canyon road...that was a crazy-wonderful little road!  The views were great!  Unfortunately, we were too busy to stop to take some pictures.  It reminded me of Naciemento-Ferguson road out in the Central Coast only much, much better....smoother and less "goatie" until the end where the pavement breaks up a bit.  Otherwise, definitely worth it.  The section leading up to Tuna was just non-stop S-turns and there was nobody on that road.

We also took Yerba Buena road.  Damn crap road!  It was rough and filled with small rocks.  I could feel my rear tires slipping here and there and kept hearing rocks hitting my fenders, but the pavement was so rough that the gravel got swallowed up in most of the crevices so our tires actually kept traction!  It would be a great road for a lightweight dual sport.  Oh yeah.  Our VFR's and a bunch of crazy bicyclists were the only ones on that road too.  Not something I want to repeat.

When I first started riding back in the late '90s Yerba Buena was in decent shape still. It has really deteriorated over the last 5 years or so.

Deer creek is a fun goaty little road with some spectacular views.

 Lol

Viffergyrl, the group I was with was (surprisingly) very docile and safe, yet very capable in the tight stuff.  As you know, these are often rare characteristics.  One of the riders had only been riding for six mos, yup, six months!  But he learned to ride with older people under those conditions so really capable and controlled.  Us older gents were really impressed.  So yeah....we went REALLY slow through the dirty stuff.  My VFR got a big old dent on one of my header pipes!    Sad
