Hello Friends, sorry for the lack of posting, but on 30 April I was hit while traveling on the B270 Near Idar Oberstein.  Spent 5 days in a Chemical Coma, ant the remainder of the time healing.  Still on the way to recovery with dreams and wishes of riding B4 seasons end.

I Suffered two broken arms, 4 fractured ribs, broken foot with a busted up knee. And thanks to my helmet, my noggin is still in one peace.  The major thing was the collapsed lung, but God Blessed big time, and I'm still alive.

My 12R is a thing of the past, but there are other machines waiting on me.

God Bless you all and keep an eye out for Mr. Murphy.

That really sucks. You seemed to have been having such a great time riding the local roads too.

I wish you a speedy and complete recovery

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. You sound like me after a much less serious injury: getting back on was a very high priority. Take my advice and don't rush it. I rushed it and although all was OK, it is now apparent that getting back on too soon carries some significant risks to reinjury. Be confident that you WILL get back on, but it's bettter to wait a bit.

On April 30, I headed out to take some pics of the local back roads and some Rape fields.  After a few pics (which will be posted soon), Something didn't feel right so I decided to go home.  Heading down B270 near Lauterrcken, My last memory was oh shit, And I woke up in the Hospital a week later, The say I was at the Idar Oberstein clinic for two days until my lungs collapsed and then they medivac me to Marburg Clinic, all of which I do not remember.

From the police report, a local national decided to make an illegal left turn in front of me and that was all she wrote. But i will tell you this...Helmet saves lives.....Leathers save skin.....Boots saves toes.....All I need now is that airbag jacket.

Best wishes to you all and looking forward to a slow and full recovery...Typing with two fingers is a pain (ha ha)

Lastly, looking at the ZX-14 or Hayabusa as a replacement for the 12.

To all riders..Keep one eye on faith, and the other one on Mr. Murphy.

Congratulations on your excellent attitude.

I'm recovering from a scooter crash now, though I didn't have it as bad as you did. I had a deer walk out in front of me when I was going 45.  Didn't see her until it was too late to stop properly.  So I locked up the front brake in an adreneline-induced panic, and went for a short flight.

I was wearing shorts, sandals, a fleece jacket, hot weather gloves, and a helmet.  From the other side, I can testify that the equipment works.  My legs & ankles had a lot of skin scraped off of them.  I had a couple knuckles cleaned of flesh too, because there was nothing but some foam and fabric on the backs of the gloves.  But the leather palms saved me some more pain.  The helmet saved my life.  The fleece jacket worked surprisingly well.  It didn't even burn though, and all I got was rugburn on one elbow. I was luckily only going about 45 mph when it happened.

My scooter's still in the shop getting estimated, I'm afraid it won't be totalled, and I don't really trust that headlight any more.

Get something with shaft drive though. Like the new Concours 14, FJR, or Pan European.

Yes, even the Docs were surprised at my recovery. And I'm sure the muscle mass and the guardian angels had a lot to do with that.  Muscle mass just like my 12R is a thing of the past, but I hope my Angels are here for the long haul.
