Greetings from the Great White North!

Taxguy and myself are leaving Victoria, BC on May 26 for a two week ride south. Our bikes are 05 FJR and 05 FZ1. We will be in Sante Fe for two days, June 1st and 2nd where Loren will attend a business convention. That means I will have two days to myself to tour the area so I'm looking for route suggestions, both twisty and scenic. If any STN'ers live in the area and would like to meet for a coffee and ride (or beer later!) that would be all the better!  Mike Bigsmile

Haven't been checking the board very much lately, I would recommend the ride to the ski area for a quick ride then I would recommend the ride to Taos,Eagle Nest, Red River and  Questa. That's a big loop ride that is very nice. The ride from Taos on US 64 to Chama ( going over the Rio Grande Gorge ) is sweet as is the ride from Chama to Antonito and then back to Tres Piedras.

The Turquoise Trail comes to mind http://www.turquoisetrail.org/map.htm

If it isn't too far out of your way 518 is a good ride. 518 has always had some gravel in the corners, so be cautious. Also, as you approach Mora from the west, you'll be going down hill, and it's awfully easy for your speed to build up to uncomfortable levels! If you continue east on 518, you'll come to a point where there will be trees behind you and grasslands ahead of you. It's the most definite line of demarcation I've ever seen....

Thanks for the suggestions. We rode in on #4 from San Ysidro and will ride the Turquoise Trail #14 on Saturday. Sante Fe is a very scenic area so far including the touristy downtown area. (00buck signed in as Taxguy)
