Busy Little Shop FAI waffles...
Start with 2 cackle berries... best the whites and toss the yokes...
2 cups Bisquick
1 and 1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup oil
Mix batter together thoroughly before folding in the whites...
Waffles should be crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle... perfecto...
Explain how you find oil with no fat in it.

Thats the wrong way to cut a pizza.
It's a Midwestern thing. Poor people don't get real pizza.
(N.B. Chicago deep dish pizza is delicious, but that's a totally different animal, and isn't what was pictured anyway.)

Belarussian (where I am from) invention - Sushi-salo!
Raw salted bacon wraped around some pickles and peppers, served with red horseradish sauce, "black" ray bread and frozen vodka, infused with bizon grass - ahh!
I can't bring myself to eat raw bacon. I know someone who died of trichinosis.

Earlier this evening I grilled loin lamb chops (purchased from a local farm), that I seasoned with kosher salt, fresh ground pepper, and just a bit of garlic oil. I served it with a loaf of freshly-baked whole wheat bread, several potato bourekas (purchased from an Israeli import/export store on Long Island), and a salad.
Yum.

How about some red chili?
That looks almost as good as the chili I made last night... nice and thick, the roast I put in it falling apart, a whole jar of jalapenos, 4 hours on the stove top...and of course I have plenty of cheese, sour cream and oyster crackers to put on top. If I had a digital camera I'd post pics, but you'll have to settle for my word and OSVS' and my brother's to steal the portion I'm saving for my lunch. It's fantastic.
I also have 3-4 dozen homemade pierogies still in the fridge; take your pick of meat, potato or cheese and potato.
Also on my "To Cook" list:
spanakopita
apple strudel or baklava (I haven't decided, but hopefully I will have enough phyllo dough for both)
roast turkey, so I can make...
turkey frame soup

I just found out we're having meatballs and spagetti...
Why?
Because our 15 year old Siamese is in his final days and he loves meatballs.

My chili has small amounts of tomato, and it definitely has beans. How else am I supposed to get back at OSVS for all those times he tries to dutch oven me?
I mean...

Bump.
Tonight I'm eating grilled salmon marinated in Trader Joe's Lemon Ginger Sesame Dressing, shrimp (I haven't decided on a rub or marinade for them yet), spinach sauteed in olive oil with toasted garlic, homemade whole wheat bread (left over from yesterday), maybe a salad.

Instead of making anything on that list I posted earlier, I made a pizza: home-made crust, ricotta cheese as the sauce, a mix of mozzeralla, romano and parmesan cheeses on top of that, spinach, tomato, artichoke hearts, basil, and garlic as the toppings.
I ate only one slice because while it was baking I threw the left over tomato, artichoke hearts, and spinach in with some pasta and sprinkled it with some Old Taylor St Cheese Sprinkle
from The Spice House in Old Town. I realized when I ate the pizza that I could have piled some more stuff on top and been fine, but it's still good and my stomach was glad to have the pasta earlier.
Tomorrow, *fingers crossed* I'll be buying a digital camera... maybe I'll start taking pictures of this stuff

Got a crock pot? Let's have some
Guinness-Braised Beef Brisket...!!
You will need:
1 cured corned beef brisket. (You can trim it if you like, but I prefer leaving the fat on. Makes it a bit more tender.)
1 c chopped white or yellow onion.
1 c chopped carrot. (You can substitute an equivalent amount of baby carrots like the ol' lady does.)
1 c chopped celery.
1 6pk Guinness Stout. (Only one bottle goes in the pot. Send the rest to me--don't want it going to waste, ya know.)
2 c water.
2/3 packed cup brown sugar.
1/4 c tomato paste.
1 tbsp dried dill. (Alternately, 1/4 c chopped fresh dill weed. (Huh-huh...I said "dill weed."))
1 14-oz can beef broth.
6 black peppercorns.
2 whole cloves.
(Optionally, you can add a clove of garlic and/or thyme, cilantro, pepper or whatever spices you fancy, to taste. Once you've made the recipe once, you'll get an idea of how to tailor it to your preferences.)
Mix ingredients in the crock pot, turn it on Low, and go away for eight hours. Serves two hearty appetites with sides or one hungry biker alone. One thing we discovered last night: You want to start with the brisket
totally defrosted
. Otherwise, it comes out tough.
For my next trick, I'll post my Potato/Macaroni Salad Of Doom recipe.
