It only took two months, but I finally finished the first round of mods on the 2009 KTM 530 EXC that I bought from R Doug over Labor Day weekend. The bike is officially ready to ride now! I think it's going to get quite dirty on Sunday...
The list of mods/etc:
KTM 3.4 gallon tank
KTM Hardparts skid plate
Enduro Engineering Tall/Firm seat (I need the leg room)
Enduro Engineering bar risers (tall seat needs tall bars)
Tail Rack
DoubleTake folding mirrors
KTM Probend hand guards
HT Racing oil cooler (almost doubles engine oil capacity and lowers oil temp)
JD Jet Kit
Uncorked exhaust tip
Removed emissions/smog crap
Re-routed carb vent hoses to airbox
Changed gearing to 14/48 (from the insanely tall stock gearing 15/45)
Reinstalled the original knobbies
Wolfman "Peak" tailbag (not shown)
Wolfman Fender bag (not shown)
Wolfman "Enduro" tank bag (not shown)
Garmin GPS mount
Fixed stripped gear oil check bolt (not fixed well, but it's not leaking)

The previous owner stripped one of the bolts and threaded a new one on. Apparently, they are a little easy to strip.
I can't think of any more upgrades needed. The bike looks good, I can't wait to read the ride repots.

It felt loose when I unscrewed it, which was odd, but I only went finger tight after the oil change, got my torque wrench and it spun. Yeah, it's a very easy bolt to strip. Tons of stories on the web. I tried to tap it with a 1/4-28, but there wasn't much material to re-thread which I thought was odd. The new bolt went in and got to "snug". I covered the bolt in RTV before to help it seal and don't plan on removing it again. It wasn't the stock bolt, so the PO having issues with it explains the weird bolt and lack of material to tap. Seems fine at the moment. If push comes to shove, I will tap it with the next size bolt. No biggie.

There are always things to do to the bike :-) The farkling never ends. Here is the list of stuff I have to consider over the winter:
DirtTricks.com Cam Chain Tensioner ($89)
Fastway F5? Evolution III pegs ($130)
Sicass tail/turn combo
Sicass light switch
Sicass headlight bulb
clutch case saver
Coolant recovery tank?
KTM fan kit
Trail Tech/KTM stator upgrade (fan, GPS, heated gear)
Swap out the stock battery (YTX5L-BS) for a YUSA YTZ7S

Thanks. I've been awaiting it more than you.
Now all I need is plates, right? *cough* I'd never have ridden it without 'em.

6+" of snow on the ground and falling...doesn't mean I can't spend time with the bike. Got her all shined up with fresh rubber and exhaust, ready for the track this weekend!
