Well, I thought about what Chris said and made the appropriate changes. I'm okay with what I have here now.

I should have allowed them to take me to the hospital to get checked out. I did end up going later in the day and get checked out. I felt fine right after the accident but as the day went on my ribs really hurt. The x-rays look okay but I think I bruised them. Plus this morning I'm sore as hell and my neck really hurts. I hope I didn't really mess anything up.

Glad you made it through relatively unhurt.  

Make sure you go to the doctor for your neck.  Even if you don't think it warrants a doctor visit, it'll be there for documentation later.  And then make sure you go again if your neck still isn't quite right after a few weeks.  It's all about documentation.  Also, wait a solid year or so before you settle in case anything crop up in the future.

I ended up slightly tweaking my neck in a similar collision, thought I was fine just a little sore.  Then a month went by and it still felt the same.  Then I bumped my head ever so slightly and couldn't move my head for 2 weeks.   But since I'd never had my neck checked out there was no way to place the cause on the accident rather than the innocent head bump.

Yep, that would be the proper term. I could have had laser beams shooting in every direction and I still doubt he would have seen me.

Ya know, even though this cager did a pretty good job of trying to kill me, if I wasn't so sore I would have rode into work today on the FZ6. I've thought about the fact I could have had my leg crushed or worse, but it really doesn't make me even consider the idea of not riding. I can't imagine quiting doing something I love so much.

I've heard others mention they don't want to ride again after incidents like this but It's hard for me to understand. I'm not judging, just saying I don't understand that thought process.

Hope the other guy's insurance covers the new plastics, new mirror, new aux light, a new sidecase, a new set of frame sliders, and whatever else was damaged.   Sure, it doesn't look so bad, but I'm sure the costs will add up.   I hope you're feeling better, too.

If I had the aux lights on it was by accident. There too bright to run with them on in traffic.

I was assured the bike would be made new again. I'm dropping it off today at Martins to get an estimate. I'm sure it will be expensive. Thank god it's not on my dime.

I'm still sore but not feeling too bad. Thanks for the concern.

Riding with highbeams on during the day on a modern bike seems dangerous to me.  Sure people will see you, but have someone ride their bike at you from 1/2 mile or so with their high beams on and you might notice a glare that removes the ability to focus on any of the few cues that help a driver determine your distance.  (And, yes, I'm talking about during the daytime.)

Ever had a driver pull out at the last minute after sitting there as you approach?  They are unable to judge your distance and speed and guess wrong.

  Dude!!! I'm so glad you're "okay" relatively speaking. Like others have said, don't settle the insurance claim too early. Whiplash can take weeks to materialize and I wouldn't be shocked if you have a concussion.

Now on to the bike - make sure the frame and forks are still straight. Also, it shouldn't even be a question as to whether his insurance company is going to "cover the damages."

Hella FF50's. They're great for lighting up the night. Plenty of people on this board have ridden with me and can attest to that.

Get them here for around $100USD. Includes lights, brackets, relay, and wiring. Don't know if he'll ship to the UK but you can certainly ask. I'm sure he'd work something out.

Ahh, they're made by someone... thats a shame since I don't have an FJR I was hoping that they'd be a brand or something and available for other bikes. Its a really neat idea having them on the stalks like that though... I might have to get in touch with my old technician friends at the Engineering Dept. at University. Hmmm...   Or just buy some metal and bash it into shape!!  

Just goes to show how expensive the UK is for things, a pair of FF50 over here is £70, about $140

Bet you're glad to have the '06 vs the '05.  Sliders aren't as simple for the first gens.

Sounds like this guy needs my new improved vision enhancement adjustments so seeing future motorcyclists BEFORE he pulls out won't be a problem anymore.

Its fairly simple... take vision test... slap the shit outta him... take vision test... repeat as necessary until desired vision improvements are achieved. Approved at all local laser centers.

If you need any help wrenching or anything just yell.

Looks like your highway pegs saved your side case although I am not sure which would cost more to replace. Again, glad your OK. I have seen several FJRs go down and they seem to do pretty well  (all have been rideable afterwards).
