C'mon, you know none of that matters as long as there's no urine cups and it looks refined
james
Well you know the cheap urine cups don't matter a damn as long as it's a fancy Ducati. Then all is forgiven.
If you want heated grips, electric windshield, heated seats, GPS, etc., then get a BMW 330i. Honestly! It's a motorcycle! Wear a heated jacket liner if you're cold. Do you REALLY need a GPS? And if you can't stand the windblast, then maybe riding is not for you. In any case, Honda makes the Goldwing for those who must have the comforts of their car.

That's all well and good but how many overnight trips do you take? How many different roads do you take? Do you ride in the rain or snow? Regarding windblast, last time I checked you own two bikes with windshields don't you? The Duc has an adjustable windscreen but it's not electronic. It doesn't have heated seats but it does have heated grips and if you ride someplace cold you'll see it's a nice feature to have.
Frankly if Honda is trying to compete against BMW and the new Connie then it needs to have the niceties that those bikes have.

I agree. Which is why it won't sell if they price it according to speculation we've heard here and on VFRD.

I dont take enough overnight trips. I wish I did. But I have gone on them from time to time on a variety of bikes including my Buell. Ridden in the rain plenty of times before. Ridden in very cold weather down to about 20 degrees but not in snow....that's nuts! If I had to travel in snow I will take a car.
I certainly will not say the new VFR is better than the new Ducati ST. I do think that all those niceties mentioned are unecessary.
To deal with cold, I prefer the heated jacket liner with collar and sleeves. No need for heated grips with that. Adjustable windshield......it adds weight and mechanical complexity. They should just have replaceable windshields based on rider height. But yeah I do like having a windshield yet I don't see the need to have an electrically adjustable one. GPS? Maybe if I were a motorcycle messenger and I must find addresses I am not familiar with. Otherwise the standard maps work fine. I just think that all of those gadgets are just gadgets and takes away from just riding the bike the way it was meant to be rather than trying to emulate a car.

I'd rather buy my own stuff and add it if I want it. Example, I don't actually want heated grips but I'd like heated gloves instead. I'd also like to choose my own GPS rather than a manufacturer choosing it for me. So it's not a big deal to me if Honda doesn't include this stuff as long as the bike isn't priced as if it does.

I'm the same way. I'd much rather have a pretty basic bike with lots of aftermarket support than one that comes with all the bells and whistles from the manufacturer. I may not want all the bells and whistles. Or I may want different bells and whistles. The exceptions to that rules would be things like ABS, traction control and such that con only come form the OEM. I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.
That being said, the VFR definitely doesn't fit my definition of a "basic bike". I love the technology, though, and it'll be interesting to see how it spreads to other bikes in Honda's lineup.

I love listening to SoCal folks argue about creature comforts. Like riding in warm sunshine all year long is so goddamned demanding.
