WV law on carry from non resident:
18 U.S.C. ァ 926A. Interstate transportation of firearms
Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political
subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting,
shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from
any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may
lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and
neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly
accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case
of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's compartment the firearm or
ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.
I am not sure how this relates to a motorcycle.
I would say a locked carry/transport case inside a locked luggage case should satisfy those requirements.

Absolutely agree with that. But, the OP was talking about using a tank bag. I would avoid doing that unless there's a lock on the tankbag.
I carry primarily for what idiot may try to enter my room in the middle of the night. Fortunately, the states I've traveled to gives me reciprocity of my NC CCL.
I beleive the states I need to be paying attention to which I stand a high probability of riding through is MD and NY. In NY, I would not even be able to stay the night if I were carrying. They値l only allow me to pass through as long as I知 going to a state which provides reciprocity. So, if I知 pulled over in NY and it is determined that I have a gun in my luggage and answer that I知 just passing through to a state which provides reciprocity, I should be able to continue without problem. But, if I said I plan to stay the night in NY or I am on my way to MA, I知 screwed.

In a different time and different life I frequented some of the worst neighborhoods in the Mid-Atlantic in search of drugs. Never carried nor needed a gun. What the fuck are you doing that's more hazardous than that?

Doesn't matter; he wants it, and is figuring out logistics. No one else's value judgment matters on iota.

It matter 'cause I wanna know something too. I'm not anti-gun,in fact quite the opposite. Just wonder why people feel the need.

I've never had a wreck requiring seat belts in more than 40 years of driving but I still use my seat belts and carry insurance.
Wouldn't you be breaking the law if you didn't?

I own guns also, and have nothing against them. Just never in my life felt the need to carry one around. (But hey it's just my opinion)
Now what happens if lets say your wife wants to travel to Greece (Or anywhere else) . Do you not go on the trip because local laws will not allow you to carry?

I mean, this kind of stuff comes up a lot:
Person A: "I want to do this thing. What are my options for doing that thing in these listed places?"
Person B: "I never do that thing. I do this other thing."
Person C: "Those are all the wrong places for doing that thing. This other place is way better for it."
Person D: "Why do you want to do that thing?"
Person E: "That thing sucks."
Person A: "Yeah, thanks a lot, assholes."
Seriously, dude just wants info without all the F*&@ING editorializing.

Did you forget a comma?
If not, no one elected me as the spokesman asshole.
If you did, no one elected me as the spokesman, and don't call me asshole.
In either case, I'm correct; no one seems to just be able to answer the guy's question without editorializing.

Dude, you're going to ruin the internet.
I know this old guy (of course) who rides a goldwing. Friend of my dad's. Been commuting on GWs since the 80s, and prior to that, on a silverwing. Also takes long trips on it most summers. Nice guy and a very skilled rider, which you'd hope after a million miles on bikes.
The guy has never been down and in decent weather, he rides in shorts and a golf shirt. In bad weather he wears rain gear. Doesn't own a full face helmet.
I wonder what I'm doing that makes me more prone to crashing than that guy? Because I really prefer to wear a bunch of gear when I ride.
I guess I'm just insecure or compensating for some kind of inadequacy or something.

Nah, man there's plenty of places to go off and say whatever. But this isn't the thread for it. This guy just wants information and the water is so muddy now from everyone having a "better idea" or questioning what the guy wants or laying out their own morality and judgments. People want to talk about why they don't want to carry a gun, do it in their own threads. Guns are so f'ing idiotically polarizing, it's amazing. That's why I don't discuss guns much, or politics or religion EVER. I'd rather keep my friends and respectfully disengage from discussions than actually tell some whackjobs exactly what I think of their asinine positions on certain things.

If you figure out a way to stop people from doing the exact form of editorializing you described - and it's a perfect description - even in one gun thread, once, on one forum...no, I stand by my opinion. You will create a singularity that will delete the internet from existence.
Possibly delete existence itself. We can't risk it. Everyone must address side issues, without providing useful information. As judgementally and moralistically as possible.
Life itself may hang in the balance.

Why would you need a gun? They're not going to hurt their clientele.
