Title: favourite twisties in BC?
Post by: motrhead on September 03, 2017, 01:23:43 am
My girlfriend accompanied me on the Norge today for somewhat over 500km of twisty roads strung together...we did Barnhartvale Rd, 5a from Kamloops to Merritt, Green Mountain Road, and Westside Rd,with some side trips included.
I am a big fan of 31A,and the Ferry Rd from Creston to Crawford Bay, Old Hedley Rd, White Lake Rd, Hwy 6 Lumby to Playmor Junctuon, 8 from Merritt to Spences Bridge, and Cache Creek to Lillooet (and the road into Stewart). What other gems am I missing?
BTW, there is nothing quite like a big twin on a tight twisty road...lots of engine braking, rarely needing to drop more than a gear...it's magic!

Hwy 3 from Hope to Hedley is a pretty good rip. I also  like the 5A from Princeton to 97C. One should never forget the Duffy Lake Road. Hwy 1 from Hope to Spences Bridge has some fun on it. Though short, Hwy 3 from Osoyoos to Rock Creek is a good rip, Hwy 33 from Rock Creek to Kelowna can be a hoot. The 3b from Rossland north to the 3 is fun. I like the whole length of Hwy 6 from Vernon right down to the 3/3A junction. The Sunshine Coast Highway from Gibsons to Earl's Cove can be a hoot (stay away in late fall as the road gets covered in  wet leaves in large sections).

The Duffey Lake road that Oxblood refers to is Hwy 99 from Lillooet to Pemberton.

Highway 31A from New Denver, BC to Kaslo, BC is a great road. When I was at a gas station in the New Denver town another motorcycle rider told me it was the best road in BC, so I road it to Kaslo and back to New Denver. It was a great ride on my Triumph Tiger 800XC.

I'll share two that are a little less know. Please don't share

Little Fort Highway from LF to 97.  Beautiful lake country and remote enough to have little traffic. Some Great Lake cabins in the area too .  Comes out near Lone Butte.

Tunkwa Lake Rd from Savona to Logan Lake. Runs through unfenced ranch country. Paved goat path in places. Watch out for Moose and Cattle. Ties in nicely with several loops in the area. Beautiful Provincial Park at Tunkwa Lake. Ridden it twice now.

Oh and Green Lake to White Lake Rd from OK Falls. Interesting Radio Observatory up there too.
