Title: New (to me) 2015 1200 Monster Standard - expectations? Post by: mxstone on March 26, 2018, 12:05:21 am I've ridden a BMW R1100R for the last 15+ years and I'm in the process of getting a 2015 1200 Monster Standard. It only has 1000 miles on it and tons of extras: Corbin Seat, Termignoni slip on exhaust, Givi screen, Ducati side bags and tank bag. I'm excited to ride it. :)
I'm interested in 2 things: the riding position and the power. The 145 hp is about 50 more than what I'm used to on the BMW. I know I can handle it in terms of riding (I raced MX for several years), but I was curious if you think I'll be blown away by the change or just *meh*. From what I've read online, the Monster riding position is OK, but I think I may be spoiled by the R1100R. It super-comfy and the riding position is very neutral/natural. Am I going to be disappointed in the Monster's ergos? Title: Re: New (to me) 2015 1200 Monster Standard - expectations? Post by: Oilhed on March 26, 2018, 10:39:12 am Can't answer to the ergos. But I went from my 85 hp R1100R to a 99 hp Ducati ST3 and was instantly impressed. So much smoother, pulled from low rpm to redline. The BMW had a sweet spot for torque and a sweet spot for smooth and they barely crossed. The Ducati had torque and was smooth everywhere!
P.S. Congrats....post pics! |
