Baker City ... and that is final! The first or second week of September.

http://oregontrailmotelandrest.com

... end of choices. And yes, I will happily organize a deal on accommodation and an evening at the Brew Pub.

If you want to have it in Baker City that weekend, I have already obtained a group rate at the Oregon Trail Motel for a PNWRiders.com ride.  Singles are $38 and two beds are $48 (including tax).  Call 888-523-5882 for reservations and tell them you are part of "Steve's Ride".

PNWRiders is going to be there that weekend?  If so...f that.  But don't listen to me cause I more than likely won't be able to go this year.

Our event is only scheduled for Saturday night but the group rate is good for the whole weekend.  I think there are enough roads in the area and bars in Baker City that we should be able to avoid making contact with you so don't worry about spoiling our weekend.  :twofinger:

Being anywhere near a bunch of PNWRiders is enough to stay away for a week on either side.

I have no trouble sharing the motel or pub with our PNW Overloards!  Besides, that is a hell of a rate. Does it include the breakfast too ??

I hear Mr. Sunshine ... but, he ah ... er  ... any other thoughts on this date?

Yes, it includes the breakfast.....which is a pretty light meal. I usually just use the coupon for a dollar off a regular meal.

I don't think the PNWRiders will be that big of group, we filled 10 rooms last year.

I should mention that the group rate is also available Sunday-Thursday nights for the entire summer for anyone on a motorcycle traveling through the area, just tell them that you are part of Steve's Ride and to check with Mark (the owner) if they don't know about the discount.

Mr Sunshine - you started this thread.  I supported your overall effort with Baker City photos from the past.
You could have responded with "Thanks for the photos, UhOh.  Here are some of mine..."
But, instead, you object.  Why?

If this does actually turn out to happen on the second weekend in September.... pretty good chance I'll make it down for this one. It's been a while since I have hooked up with the group and I always enjoy Baker City. Probably bring the 800GS and do some dirt road exploring, if anyone else is bringing a dirty sort of bike, it would be cool to have at least a couple of bikes to help keep me out of trouble.  :D

I'll keep monitoring this thread.

Are you going to make this one?

Yeah, I think I am. And I'm going to pick the longest route to Baker City I can find!  :bigok:

Think I'll still fit into my riding gear at 23 weeks pregnant?   Yeah, me neither.  Catch you guys another time.

Maybe you should have a second set made for instances like this... it seems to becoming a common occurrence with you!  :D

  I know, right?   At least with the Teiz suit, there's no waistband and the waist velcro is adjustable so I actually can wear it pretty far along.

I think Ghazi should put a fertility warning on his suits -- every time I've ordered custom fit gear, I've wound up pregnant within a month.

A friend who was also a church musician for years with me said the same thing after three pregnancies in 5 years.... 'They oughta put a warning label on this organ.'  :p

Wow, conversation really dies down when we all reach an agreement on time and location.

Surely they'll resolve it in a month...

... so I just called the Baker City motel (Saturday, Aug 3).
There is a problem and it is being worked on intensely by the city, county and state.
article says 9 people got sick in mid/late-July.

While it's being resolved:
motel has bottled water for brushing teeth;
most restaurants have re-opened using paper plates.

I'm with stefrrr ^^^  we're still 6 weeks out.
I'd say give it 3 weeks and then review status...

It should be fine right? It's the Wild West and they're used to this kind of thing.

I guess I should book a room if there are any left.

Seems that homeland security has failed Us again
THe Commies are trying to infiltrate out bodily fluids again

I call for calm and order!!!

Pure rain water, gain alcohol, fresh tires and a tank of fuel should keep the pinko's at bay

6 weeks till launch codes are issued

I'll bring the grain alcohol if someone else brings the rainwater.  We must maintain the purity of our precious bodily fluids.

What is the big deal?  :headscratch:  Its no different than traveling in Mexico or some other 3rd world country.  If Baker City was having a beer, liquor, or gas shortage than that would be something of concern.  :D

Mexico and the rest of the 3rd world are one thing, but this is eastern Oregon. I suggest we follow stefffrrrr's plan of a 3 week wait-and-see.

Rye grain alcohol is preferred.   I'll bring some,  then you won't need water.

I don't understand the big deal,  you can always drink Coors or Bud,  it's practically water anyways.

For a while, restaurants were closed. No water = NO PIE!

I'll bring the movie then you'll understand.  I'm pretty sure the Oregon Trail has a meeting room with a tv that I think we can use.

With this crowd I am betting a laptop is available, please put it on the spin.

Pretty sure I saw a barely used CRM-114 in the lobby.

What was the recall code?  OPE?

We could probably get more people in front of a tv than a laptop unless some one brings a laptop projector.

I'll bring my 40th anniversary DVD.  :naughty:
