BMW has unveiled their new Concept 6 design that utilizes a 1600cc inline 6 configuration.  The press release hints that the engine will see production in the form of a new luxury touring model sometime in the near future.  Peak horsepower will be close to what is offered in the current 1300cc inline 4 configuration, but torque will be copious and arrive much earlier...96 ft-lbs at 2000 RPM.

Here's a shot of the concept bike:

Ride Reports
Aug 1st, I rolled out of bed at 4am, and left the house at a little after 4:30am...

My grandmother passed away, and the family service was scheduled for Aug 3rd, in Longmont, Colorado. Yeah, it would have been easy enough to fly out and get a rental car and fly back, but why not make an adventure out of it? I have always wanted to do a long extended trip on the bike and just go see stuff and different places. I also wanted to see if I could pull off a Iron Butt Bun Burner Gold, which is 1500 miles in under 24 hours, so I prepped the Aprilia about as well as I could. Serviced the forks. New Penske shock. New Pilot Road 2CT's. Brake fluid. Clutch flui...

xx 2010 Aprilia RSV4R - First Ride Video | 03 Nov 09

Motorcycle USA is one of only two U.S. magazines to ride the 2010 Aprilia RSV4R Superbike...and they like it a lot.

"From the minute you fire the engine it screams pure unadulterated exhilaration—think Ducati Desmosedici. Motoring out from pitlane and onto the track reveals both how stout the engine’s bottom end power is as well as just how tall first gear is—another clue that this is first and foremost a racing motorcycle. Keep the throttle dialed to the stop and its engine gains speed voraciously in a similar fashion to a 600cc Inline-Four mated to a big V-Twin. In the lower gears the front end gets light yet the wheel always hovers close to the gr...

Ride Reports
Well I have finally have completed my first long distance, overnight, multi-state ride.  It was a solo run to visit the girlfriend while she was away on a vacation of her own.  When I first came across this board, the first ride report I read was Jammin thru Alaska.  What an amazing story that was.  I thought to myself, "it would be awesome to take the time to just myself, the bike, and the road and see what's out there."  Would I have what it takes to go on such an adventure?  Would it test my abilities as a rider and as a person?  These questions would be put to the test.  I have some social anxiety problems so a solo ride to the unknown presented a mental challenge to me.  How would I react to certain situations, people, problems, etc?  ...
