I've been lazy about taking photos (or a camera), but snapped a few shots on a trip last weekend from San Francisco to Point Mugu.

Friday: 70s and Sunny along the PCH on Friday. Couldn't have been nicer.

CA154 rest area and sun set on the mountains.

We had a great 4 day 1300 mile journey over the weekend of Oct 7-10th. It was a fantastic ride with good friends. As always I have completed a ride report on my blog. It is too long to write out again, so I have included the link. I hope you take a few moments to go and check it out. Here are some pictures to wet the appetite.

Read it here:

Micro ride report. Did a two week trip up north August.
I just slabbed it up past Sendai. Credit to the FJR it makes 500km highway a doodle.
Next day superb exploring Mt Hachimantai and abandoned buildings.

Then on to Aomori via Lake Towada.
Ferry was easy, scan my print out then immediate boarding.
Had nap and woke up to cold and rain before landing.
Sun came out Lake Toya. Glorious ride around the lake. Made me feel like this.

Fine and hot around Furano. Route 452 one of the best roads in Hokkaido.

Next day patchy rain. Usually always dry in Hokkaido in summer.

Day after rain, really he...

xx Iceland [very many and mostly photographs] | 08 Sep 16

Several years back, I wondered what it would take to ride the roads of  Iceland.  The answer was “more time than I had” and I put the notion  aside.  This year, it was time to revisit that question.  If I  need more time; I'll take more time.
This will be a ride of Iceland.  I'd first planned to circle the  island-country mostly along the ring road and figure the rest out, along the  way.  But, after checking for an available room in Seyðisfjørður (where  the Denmark ferry lands) and seeing how limited the choice is, I realized that I'd  prudently need to do more planning for this trip than I've ever done.
I made advance  reservations for every night around the island--flippin...

March 24-28, 2016

Another holiday weekend was upon us, this one being a full four days! And with me being in between jobs, I had no issues with adding an extra day. Luckily, neither did Dan. And as a bonus, my nephew Matt, who is stationed in Germany, was able to get leave as we...

xx John Day Country, Central Oregon | 22 Mar 16

With sunshine on Saturday, I decided last-minute (like literally Saturday morning) to pack up the bike and head east. Didn't get on the road 'til 10am, mainly due to indecision over where I was going to go, last-minute pouring over maps, etc. (And I would've posted looking for company if it wasn't so last-minute).

Anyway, it was a great ride—with some "difficult" moments here and there...and I learned a lot about riding in Central/Eastern Oregon—here were my "lessons:"

1. Get over the mountains the day (or night) before. I spent almost 3hrs getting to Prineville, which was where the ride real...

xx ...around the Adriatic Sea [mostly and very many photographs] | 21 Oct 15

How about a ride around the Adriatic Sea?
Earlier this summer I rode to Scotland; so, the opposite route would be  to to ride towards  the Balkans and then complete the loop around the Adriatic Sea by crossing  back to Italy and returning north.
I would allow the route to decide itself each morning, but I had  some general plan to ride as far south as Patras, Greece before crossing  over to Italy.  It didn't happen that way; things sometimes work out  differently.
New Jersey
It was once a Continental flight, and now it's a United flight, but for all  the times I've done this, only one route has ever made sense: the...

This was a make or break trip for us. Keeping/selling the FJR hinged on a successful trip after being seriously inconvenienced by the dreaded “spider bite” two years ago in the Dolomites.

I can save you loads of time by saying the trip was great in almost every respect. The bullet points:
