90 hp, available Ohlins and dual disk Brembos .... sounds appealing.

Long over due. Let's hope they get rid of the bloat and bring it in at about 430lbs.

Meh... will take the RnineT over that all day, and I used to be a Thruxton ('10 SE) fan!

Yes, very long overdue, Triumph! And ABS on one of their Modern Classics is also way overdue. I thought of the BMR R-NineT immediately upon seeing this. My bet is that the Triumph will not be nearly as compact as the BMW, which seems pretty diminutive in person. Keeping the clip-ons like the spy shot would be a nice difference to the R9T.
If Triumph can't beat the 489lb BMW wet weight, it won't look good. But seeing that the existing Thruxton 900, at 507lbs wet, is already heavier than the BMW, is it likely that Triumph will be able to do that?

More spy shots, including some with the 900 Thruxton, and some showing one w/o the USD forks.

NineT is a $15k bike... more like $17k+ by the time most owners are done blinging it up.
If this R version with Ohlins and Brembo comes in at $11.5k, I wouldn't care if it carries a few more lbs. The vertical twin makes for a tidier package over the boxer.
Still... I'm waiting for T to redo the Sprint into a R1200ST competitor.

Would love to see a new Sprint... I think it might be more along the lines of the new R12RS if we do though.

Same thoughts for me also.
I don't know if that will ever happen so I'm starting to seriously look at the Bmw F800 ST/GT.

I believe the R Nine T weight is 489 dry and the current Thruxton is 507 wet.
The fact that one gallon of gas weighs 6 lbs and a quart of oil weighs around 1.8 lbs, my guess is the final weight differential will be negligible.
I've yet to ride a Nine T but did sit on one. I was suprised on how agressive the ergos are on it. I believe it would be more comfortable than the Thruxton. But, let's face it, you don't purchase these bikes for comfor. They're FUN!
I believe this new Triumph is amazing looking and I'll bet that larger parrallel twin will SOUND amazing.
For the money, I'm going to guess the Truimph will come out on top in this battle.

But, of course. Got my German alphabet soup mixed up.
RS = Reise Sport = "Touring Sport" auf Deutsch = "Sport Touring" in English.
T already has the Trophy for the crowd that need 700lbs worth of touring amenities. Perfect excuse to lighten up the Sprint back to a
real
ST.
That said... the big bore Classic is a no brainer. I like it better than the S3R I have right now. I've always liked the Bonnie/Thruxton, but I just can't hack the lousy suspension and so-so power.

I liked what Triumph did with the "classic" line of air cooled twins. The thought of a "liquid cooled classic" does sit well with me.
I'd rather they keep it air cooled and shave off a bunch of weight and improve handling.

If Triumph followed trends at all (but they don't, at all) they'd make a Sprint 800 and sell em like hot-cakes (what ever they're called in England).
