I'm planning to be in Quincy weekend of May 15th - May 17th.  If anyone wants to join me we can call it the 2015 WCRM.

This is the traditional weekend before Memorial day.  Based on recommendations and fifteen minutes of Googling, I selected the Ranchito Motel in East Quincy.

I spoke with Tracy and confirmed that they have plenty of availability that weekend.  Rates vary from 69+tax to $85+tax.  Tracy told me they are motorcycle friendly and regularly have groups use their hotel.  The grounds have plenty of parking and public areas for barbecuing and picnicking etc. More hotel info at the following links.

Ranchito Motel - www.ranchitomotel.com

Yelp - http://www.yelp.com/biz/ranchito-motel-quincy

TripAdvisor - http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g32933-d628597-Reviews-Ranchito_Motel-Quincy_Plumas_County_California.html

It's 2 miles to "downtown" Quincy with a bus running every 30 min and there are two restaurants almost adjacent to the property.  So the food and libations should not be a problem.  Beerchug

http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=Restaurants&find_loc=2020+E+Main+St%2C+Quincy%2C+CA+95971#start=0&l=p:CA:Quincy::

I'll let Tracy know the name of our group, but I haven't made any commitments or asked for a group rate.  It'll be the usual organized chaos with every person for themselves.

Those of you that came to the .5 in Chester a few years ago can hit the roads you missed last time.

See you all in May.

My wife and daughter stayed at the Ranchito a couple of years ago.  They report that it is kitschy fun.   Thumbsup

According to Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews, it's all recently modernized.

I hope the Ranchito didn't get TOO modernized.  It had its own kind of cool.   Thumbsup

I say good for you, Grinch! I'm a "poop or get off the pot" kind of guy and you sure got this done. Barring any last minute family emergencies, I'm in. Of course, I have to see if that toad that I call a Kawasaki will make it up that far.

Up thar in Quincy there be roads, hidden roads mind ye,  that are maintained by logging company generosity to the local county's roads department. They don't lead to anywhere your average tourist might like to travel upon as they only show up on your AAA tourist maps as light gray lines. Our Grand Pirate, Jim the Explorer, surely knows of them.

Arrrr.

I've ridden some of those roads- we were traveling on one such double track when we came upon a hunter standing by his truck. We asked him where the road went and he responded "That road goes nowhere!"  He was right. We had over fifty miles of nowhere on that duff-covered piece of pavement.
It was glorious.

I don't think I saw any more than 115mph. Of course, it was raining, and dark, so that kept our speeds down somewhat.

I like the idea of riding out to dead ends. It forces you to experience the road in the proper way, both directions. Usually a very different experience. Could turn the event into The GoatTrail Gathering ...  Lol

I wont get serious about routing until April, there are many options but probably coastal to Florence then inland through Mt. Lassen or something like that,

Of course the weather sill have a large influence.
