There have been tiny rumblings about a National (very tiny) but I thought I'd see if anyone is serious about attending a 2015 National.

Based on the gurgling in the National thread, most interest has centered around Wisconsin. Therefore, if you really want to attend a National in Wisconsin this year, please vote for the month in which you could most likely attend. If enough people can decide on a date and region, then perhaps the Magic will happen. If not... then I hear the Eureka Springs is the place to be in 2016.

The poll is only valid for a month. I'll let it die a quiet death if nothing comes of it by then  Embarassment

I think this poll should have been only two choices.

June or Not June.   Wink

But that's just me thinking only of myself again, instead of the greater good.  Rolleyes

However for the purposes of a tally, just take my July vote and add it to what ever month
that is the closest in votes to June that isn't June, as all those other months are fine with me.
Although October in S.D. or WI. can be iffy weather-wise.  Headscratch

There's a really good chance I'll be in Wisconsin at some point this summer.  We haven't picked dates yet but probably July, so I'll vote for that in case the dates line up and I can drop in to the National also.

Where in WI are y'alls thinking?

I've edited the poll parameters: you can now change your vote AND add a second one!

Very nice of you! Thanks!   Inlove

It still looks like June is going to win even with the second vote help for other months. Darn. Sad

It would appear (from much afar) that La Crosse WI. would be at the center of the squiggly things?  LINK

I might be able to make June.  Although its been a long time since I attended a National ('06 WV) , I've never been to the driftless area in WI and the roads look great!

Lacrosse looks good to base from, but wasn't there a meet a number of years back in the Boscobel area?

Might I suggest the Hocking Hills area of Ohio, specifically Lake Hope State Park which has a lot of cabin availability for the 3rd wknd in June(18th-20th)   This will be the scene of the crime place for the concours riders group:   Mid-Ohio Lake Hope State Park Non-Rally (MOHLSPNR)weekend for those of us not wanting to make the pilgrmmage out to the "Official" rally site of Cortez, Colo....

No.

Specifically because this "where should we hold the National" has been bandied about for months and no one is willing to plan anything. I was willing enough to post a poll based in Wisconsin simply because that was the one state that kept resurfacing with any regularity.

That being said, if DeansZG wants to take over and plan the entire event, he can have it in his backyard for all I care  Bigok

BUMP!    Thumbsup

C'mon folks, only a few days left to vote! I need an event to escape from the Texas heat in July or August!  Bigok
Please vote or change your vote(s) to July or August for a Wisconsin National.

We even have a volunteer:

Have we set a firm date yet? If it can wait until July or August, I can put something together.

And I'm still available to do it, though September is a close 2nd place right now.
If July and August combine for more than June alone, how would the last week of July or first week of August work?  I'm thinking of LaCrosse as the center, as there are numerous motels with good riding in in all directions.  Wisconsin Dells will be a zoo at that time, but would be very workable for September.

Great! JULGUST would be perfect.

I haven't been in that area in decades, but on Google Earth it looks very promising.

Looks like September is clearly ahead, with "Julaugust" the runner up.  How much longer will this poll be open?  One item of possible interest: If LaCrosse is the base, which I would recommend, the local colleges will be back in session.  Motel rooms will be a bit pricier, and nearly impossible to book if the UW-LaCrosse football team is in town.  Of course, if it is a mid-week rally that's immaterial.

Time for someone to make an executive decision!

All-righty, then!

September it will be. How about Monday the 7th (get there that evening, Labor Day) through Thursday the 10th? LaCrosse, Wisconsin, will be the base.  For those who have never been to LaCrosse, it has a population of about 60,000.  The satellite towns of Onalaska and Holmen make the total population nearly 100K.  Interstate 90 runs between it and Onalaska.

The riding is the best in the midwest. "Special" attractions include Wildcat mountain and the Mindoro Cut.  Twisty Alphabet roads and state highways go off in all directions.

The 4 Japanese motorcycle brands have dealers in town, as do HD and Victory.  There are a few independent shops as well.  Premium unleaded without ethanol is readily available throughout the area.

Restaurants abound.  There is entertainment downtown- live music, movies and either of the two universities may have something going on any given night.

Motels are mostly on the north end of the city, about 2.5 miles from downtown.  They range from $55 to $100 per night.  Most have pools and conference rooms.  I will see if I can reserve a block or rooms somewhere and get a discount.  The downtown hotels are a bit nicer, closer to the action, but start at $140 and go up from there.   For the price difference, a round trip in a taxi will still leave you with a whole bunch more money in your pocket.

If I could have a show of hands, about how many can we expect?  Alternately, if the second week (the 14th through the 17th) works better for more folks, I'm open to it. The Monday holiday makes for one less vacation day people will have to take, so I figure the 7th-10th is best.

If someone out there has co-ordinated a national previously, PM me.  I have a few questions about logistics.

I would suggest having a weekend included if you are going with a midweek timeframe. Many can't take off work for this, and I for one won't be there unless National spreads over into Saturday and/or Sunday.

Just my opinion - this is all you since you are organizing.

It could be cold.  I've seen daytime temps in the upper 40's, rarely frost overnight.  I have also seen high 80's the first week of September.  Usually it's nice, with daytime temps around 70. Moral: bring layers. The leaves don't start falling until late in the month, so the corners should be clean.
