September might work better for me as well.  I voted for June... can I change my vote  Headscratch

Looks like September is clearly ahead, with "Julaugust" the runner up.  How much longer will this poll be open?  One item of possible interest: If LaCrosse is the base, which I would recommend, the local colleges will be back in session.  Motel rooms will be a bit pricier, and nearly impossible to book if the UW-LaCrosse football team is in town.  Of course, if it is a mid-week rally that's immaterial.

Time for someone to make an executive decision!

All-righty, then!

September it will be. How about Monday the 7th (get there that evening, Labor Day) through Thursday the 10th? LaCrosse, Wisconsin, will be the base.  For those who have never been to LaCrosse, it has a population of about 60,000.  The satellite towns of Onalaska and Holmen make the total population nearly 100K.  Interstate 90 runs between it and Onalaska.

The riding is the best in the midwest. "Special" attractions include Wildcat mountain and the Mindoro Cut.  Twisty Alphabet roads and state highways go off in all directions.

The 4 Japanese motorcycle brands have dealers in town, as do HD and Victory.  There are a few independent shops as well.  Premium unleaded without ethanol is readily available throughout the area.

Restaurants abound.  There is entertainment downtown- live music, movies and either of the two universities may have something going on any given night.

Motels are mostly on the north end of the city, about 2.5 miles from downtown.  They range from $55 to $100 per night.  Most have pools and conference rooms.  I will see if I can reserve a block or rooms somewhere and get a discount.  The downtown hotels are a bit nicer, closer to the action, but start at $140 and go up from there.   For the price difference, a round trip in a taxi will still leave you with a whole bunch more money in your pocket.

If I could have a show of hands, about how many can we expect?  Alternately, if the second week (the 14th through the 17th) works better for more folks, I'm open to it. The Monday holiday makes for one less vacation day people will have to take, so I figure the 7th-10th is best.

If someone out there has co-ordinated a national previously, PM me.  I have a few questions about logistics.

I say, good for you. Take the bull by the horns and have at it! I'm not working so the dates are fine with me. I and a buddy or two will most likely go. Depending on family situation at the time.

Never been back there. I bet the weather could be cold?

I would suggest having a weekend included if you are going with a midweek timeframe. Many can't take off work for this, and I for one won't be there unless National spreads over into Saturday and/or Sunday.

Just my opinion - this is all you since you are organizing.

Three days to get there.
Three days to spend there.
Three days to get back. Perfect.
Nine days on the road and if over Labor Day
I only have to take four days off from work.
What a bargain.

Sounds perfect for me!  Two days to get there, three days there, two days home. (Leave home Sun the 6th, get home Sat the 12th.)

It could be cold.  I've seen daytime temps in the upper 40's, rarely frost overnight.  I have also seen high 80's the first week of September.  Usually it's nice, with daytime temps around 70. Moral: bring layers. The leaves don't start falling until late in the month, so the corners should be clean.

Way to step up DrMikey.  Thumbsup  We probably still can't go because of LadyNinja's new job but it's more of a possibility in September than June. We won't know until then.

DITTO!!!

Looks like historically the lows have been in the 40s and the highs in the upper 70s for those days. I can ride in that.  Thumbsup

However, now that the poll is complete shouldn't this discussion be held elsewhere: https://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php/topic,101914.0.html#.VSyCzPCE130  Headscratch
