Pity. I figured the Hero connection would keep them afloat while trying to build some market share.

Sad. I like the man for his passion and ingenuity. Making a living making and selling motorcycles can not be easy.

No surprise here.
http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/576/24451/Motorcycle-Article/Erik-Buell-Racing-Goes-into-Receivership.aspx
He failed going at it alone, then he failed with H-D support, and now he's failed with Hero and their support. I wonder what's next?
A local dealer had 1190 RX's priced at $14,999 last week, I wonder what they're priced at today?

Very sad. I had hoped he would make it. He is a brilliant designer.
As far as I can tell, nothing's been said about the racing team yet. I wonder if they'll be at Assen?

Garry don't be suprised if Hero buys the rest of the shares. Something stinks......intentional lack of marketing.....lack of real world motorcycles being produced......... They own 49% already and the bidding starts soon. Welcome to the new India based motorcycle company in America (maybe).
$14999.99 was gonna be the new list price or always be the new selling price. A little too late.
The whole story doesn't makes sense from begining to end, from top to bottom.

Is anyone surprised?
Erik Buell has never really wanted to build street motorcycles. It was always just what he HAD to do in order to finance his passion for racing.
He never seems to learn from his mistakes and EBR racing proved again that Racing
first
and building motorcycles people actually want to buy
second
is a shitty business model.
But look at the bright side - he gets to try again, and again, and he'll probably still be racing out of his own garage. Some poor executive at HERO, on the other hand, is probably being ritually stoned to death right now.

It's over... period!
EBR bikes have sat on showroom floors for a long time and not sold. There are bike with more HP and better technology available at a lower price and they come with a supporting dealer/manufacturer network.
