My FJR is my most costly to maintain because it
simply devours tires at better than a set per
season at about $300 a pair.
Therefore its cost is approximately.09 per mile.
I average about 7500 miles per year on it

Conversely, my Concours is easily the cheapest
vehicle to maintain. Other than tires, which
easily last two seasons, its greatest expense is
oil which gets changed once a year, whether it
needs it or not.
Its yearly cost is less than .03 per mile.
I average about 6000 miles a year on this one.

My Tiger 800 costs are mostly oil and tire related. Going on three years I have 27,000 miles. One valve check, three sets of tires. Will need a chain soon so I included that.

Around .07 per mile.

My wife is MUCH higher maintenance.

I come in higher at $0.21/mile because my totals include farkles in the cost of maintenance - not going to back them out either - just looking at the list I can tell they easily double maintenance costs.

My Toyota is about 1/4 the cost, and 1/100 the fun.

Operating costs should be separate from maintenance costs.

Much the same way your electric bill is separate from the
cost of a roof replacement.

And farkels are capital expenditures, not maintenance costs.

I budget $600 a year for tires and sometimes I have to park the bike
because I run out of tire money.
A good reason to have more than one bike.

Tough to figure out since I don't keep good records and some things, such as chains and tires last longer than one year, but 14.5 is a fair estimate.

I thought I was doing ok on the Street Triple with just a couple of pairs of tires, oil changes and $200 or so for the 5 or 6K service. Calling to make an appointment for 12k service (delayed to 15K - it's out of warranty), I find that it is well over $1k at a dealer and $800 to 1K at a good independent shop.
I guess it is time to go back to doing my own wrenching.

Depends upon your perspective.  I consider everything associated with my motorcycles to be an expense; that includes purchase price, gear, tolls, motel rooms and beer.  I put everything (that I can) on one credit card which is only used for motorcycling.  So at the end of the year I get a statement that shows how much I spent at the shop and for gas, food and beer, etc. but it doesn't split out repairs from maintenance or accessories.  

Not that it really matters - sometimes I wonder why I keep track - I just like to know.  Makes me feel like I somehow have control.

Unlike Doug, I just can't totally fugeddabout it and enjoy.

Here is my rear PR4 after 11,124 miles.  This is 90% freeway commuting.  A shame to lose all that side
cornering rubber.

I get about 10,000 from a set of tires. The old GS is relatively light and under powred so easy in tires.

I've owned my Super Tenny for 11 months, and 9000 miles, so far it's cost 3 oil changes, one being the throw away at 1000 miles, then every 4 k since which I do myself for about $40 bucks and 1 rear tire which picked up a nail around 2k miles. For that it's ran flawlessly in everything from low thirties and driving rain up to over 100 degrees in traffic.
