I have ridden California now and then. Yoshimura Kawasaki, meh ... a bit painful in retrospect but exciting and memorable nonetheless. Triumph ST 955 ... some definite ahh moments and the wonderful 955. R100RS ... THE Classic sport touring bike. I felt like I did not deserve the experience, not being a dyed in the wool BMW guy ... But my MG Norge ... yes, it is the quintessential motorcycle to tour NorCal. Why? Glad you asked!  

She is a Unique machine, delivers at fuel stops via mileage and conversation, food stops and hotels. Teary eyed men, and one memorable woman ...never mind ...  stride up and tell me about their RELATIONSHIP with this marque. From ex SF police to a guy who told me that the Guzzi, is THE OTHER, VTwin, the Guzzi is like some latter day Beret wearing, Gitannes cigarette smoking, capable yet cool dude,  prowling around an amazing environment ... then kicking cool aside and delivering a realistic experience on almost any road. . You live inside your Guzzi, not ride on top. A cockpit of a machine. But enough of the Orsonlike generalities ... cuz ... tomorrow ... I head south again !

Bubba,

I understand what you mean....just got back from a week-long ride in TN/NC/GA on the Norge. Most times that I stopped for fuel, food. etc., the bike attracted attention, mainly from older riders who told me stories of their fondness for the Guzzis they owned in the past.

BTW, the bike, now with 47K miles on the ODO, performed flawlessly; even with fully loaded side cases, 54L trunk, and camping gear on the passenger seat, the Norge was very comfortable and it handled the twisties very handily.

 I thought my Sportster Cafe Racer was a real conversation starter, but the LeMans gets so much attention it's ridiculous. Teens to old guys. Maybe because she is red? LOL
 Your pics are making me drool. I guess it is time to make plans to head South and check out some roads for myself. I think I can squeeze a few extra days in at the end of August before I have to work the entire month of September.
