Fear not. No more damage will be done, I have saved her.

I found this nice 2002 BMW K 1200 RS with only 19,000 miles on it.

Her last oil change was in 2009, and she had 17,000 miles on her then. So just 2000 miles in 5 years.

Such abuse. I could not tolerate seeing that continue.

I stopped on the way home and got new fluids, so she has new oil and filter as well as changed the final drive and Transmission oil.

Tomorrow morning is the club breakfast ride, so she will get a little exercise to start her on the road to where she should be.

I have to be careful though, date codes on the tires are from 2007 and 2008. So new shoes will be ordered pronto.

Nice!  Brake fluid and SS braided lines will make a great difference and fork seals should be next as you'll probably find out after your 'excersize'.  Air filter too.  Careful not to load those old tires too much.  A set of PR2,3 or 4s will do nicely.

Great bike!  These are the kind of BMWs I find very appealing.  Never much care for the LT (Light Truck) and GS (Ginormous w/ tall Seat).

Sweet.  I loved the motor (and just about everything else) on the K1200RS I had 2005-2009.

Wow, great find! This is one of those sweet bikes I would grab myself if I stumbled across a good deal...this or a GTS1000, or Daytona 1200....I always have an eye out for one.

If I posted a picture of my garage you would see that I don't have room for this one.

That doesn't mean that when my slush fund builds up again and I find another neglected bike I won't pick it up too. Lol

I'm sorry.
That just points out that I don't keep up with my profile.
The Ducati has been gone for over a year. Sad

But thanks for the offer. I'll keep it in mind if I need some miles placed on one of the under used steeds.

Well since I have owned it
It has 700 more miles on it.
Had all fluids changed, ABS flushed, PIAA lights rewired (to move the relay to an actual mount, not just leave it dangling) New battery and as of yesterday some new PR 4 GTs.

Have plans to attend a rally this month. and since I have two good bikes, and my son has his license too he wants to come along.

Sounds like you have things on the right track for sure. I'm with Volfy...IMO this line off BMWs represents their best work on a consistent basis.

Well,

The rescue has gone wrong.
I took loving care of her.
She took me to Austin for the Moto GP this year.

But on the way to World superbike, This happened.

We were in Utah, looking for our campsite for the night when my son hit a cow.

It was about 7:30, I was in front. we were doing the speed limit (60).
As soon as I passed the cow I knew what was going to happen, cause the cow jumped. I watched in my rear view mirrors as the cow darted into the road in front of my son. There was nothing he could do.
Luckily he cam out fairly unscathed.

Minor road rash and he sprained his ankle, cause he tried to stand up before he was done moving.

What a way to start a vacation.

So the rescue is over, she met an untimely death with only 25,000 + miles on her. Sad
